So much bks on here.

It's not one of six for starters.

And as others have said, if it was a Ford we wouldn't be made aware of it.

It's an easy nick and something to boast about in the canteen.

2 of my cars haven't got front plates on. Neither did the third until recently.

Got a tug for it but the coppers knew me and asked me to put one on instead of fining me.

Got the smallest possible legal stick on plate and will do the same on the others of it comes to it.
Why not just follow the law and have a proper plate on at all times? Why invite trouble?

This country has a housing and overcrowding problem, so why not round up the convicts and their offspring, throw them on a boat and send them off to a newly established far away land, like Australia v2.0.

That’d tidy this place up nicely.

From memory, my insurance paperwork states that the car needs to be in roadworthy / MOT passable state at all times, else insurance coverage is void. No front plate = no MOT, so was this Lamborghini effectively uninsured as well?

Whilst I don't agree with people taking the P when it comes to the law, its not up to the police to make it up as they go along either.

It seemed to me, from the way the story was written, that they did not believe the driver so dished out a fine and got one up on the lambo driver. That's fine if the driver had been warned before. But that was not mentioned in the story. Just because its a nice car does not mean it should be treated differently to any other car on a first offence basis.

There is a reason the vehicle defect rectification scheme exists and has been used as a fair way to deal with minor C&U offences for the last 50 years.

I know. It couldn't have been me because I didn't revert to name calling.

Any chance of an answer to my question ?
I'm no different to anyone else per se, but I make my own decisions and live with the consequences.

If you knew me you'd realise a number plate infringement is of no consequence in the grand scheme of things.

One pull in over 3 years (for which I didn't even get fined) is a level of "attracting attention" from you lot, that I can live with.
TBH I still don't see the logic here.

You seem to be hinting that you are involved in criminality on a much larger scale than a minor number plate offence. I'm not sure how to take that or if it's all BS.

What I do know is that you seem to have a very different approach to your own vehicle and keeping yourself under the radar compared to most "Mr Bigs" of the underworld.

Just an observation. Cheers for the reply. Have a nice day.

No harm done as far as I can see. £100 raised. Everyone happy bar the sort of people that worry about dirty number plates and parking perfectly. If it has wound them up, so much the better. Shame the car wasn't even more expensive. Do we know the value of the car owner's house?

The link from a number plate offence to crime kingpin seems a little tenuous, based on a few posts.

Perhaps the successful criminals escape detection by having legal plates.

It'll be a run of the mill five bed detached on a new build estate and therefore called a "Mansion".

Nah, posting history (and forum attitude/ remarks) is the key.

I'm not sure if Gameface is Pablo Escobar or a 12 year old posting from his bedroom. It's difficult to tell.

He's the one hinting at bigger criminal activities though, not me.
Funny that, most of the major league crims I know are keen to avoid attention by The Fedz, not attract it.
Their cars are squeaky clean and usually have number plates.

They'd have a field day round here since the weekend. The local ford has been collecting them for fun as it often does after a drop of rain. This time though, a kind person has left them all neatly placed for retrieval - although I did spot a couple still left under the water as I pottered through.

What an extraordinary coincidence! Apparently they're all off Lamborghinis.

I saw a green fancy lambo spyder at the weekend, not sure of the model but it had some white and red stripes on the sills and some (i think) big gold wheels.
Anyway, it looked expensive and rare, but he managed to have a front plate on it. It was on a sticker on the nose. I am pretty sure they are legal, although it looked like it may have been smaller than statutory. I used to have one on on the nose of my E type years ago, point is, there is an alternative to a plate and at least this guy bothered with something that was actually readable. No excuse really

I suspect there was no evidence that there was ever a plate installed - e.g. screw holes, broken bracket etc

Why?

I think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption.

In the real world, you don't go up to complete strangers and say such things.

All those insults about a numberplate rofl

Would he say those things to me (or anyone else) at petrol station if he was filling up next to me?

It's internet talk.

Not real world.

You're right. I doubt anyone would come up to you in a petrol station and go off on one at you because you don't have a front number plate (although stranger things have happened).

This is more of a discussion though - like an internet pub thing.
Having said that we're all strangers on here, so a bit of civility shouldn't go amiss.

But then again, if you state your case and others disagree with you it does tend to get a bit heated sometimes. You should know that by now.

You don't do yourself any favours by saying "You wouldn't say that to my face" TBH.
That's like catnip to some people on here but you've only got yourself to blame for inviting more insults and ridicule.
I doubt many of us will ever meet so it just comes across as a bit childish.

Not a criticism as such. Just my take on it.

I get that totally. You're absolutely right.

But it wasn't me being aggressive. Internet threats etc are embarrassing. I'm as far removed from a keyboard warrior as it's possible to be.

It was just how I see things.

I don't care what people say about me on here. They don't know me. I don't know them.

I'm not here to make friends. It's just a car forum (or at least it used to be).

Internet is one thing. Real world is something else.

I only said it because he said he'd definitely say all those insults to my (or theoretically someone else's) face.

Most people understand that he wouldn't.
