I suspect there was no evidence that there was ever a plate installed - e.g. screw holes, broken bracket etc
Well that's probably the reason it fell off then ....
Was there any Prit Stick marks on the bumper?

Probably got fined because he got all arrogant and arsey and thought they'd just back down and let him off.

At least he's got his "look at me" 5 minutes of fame in the local rag.

What a berk...

You don't do yourself any favours by saying "You wouldn't say that to my face" TBH.
That's like catnip to some people on here but you've only got yourself to blame for inviting more insults and ridicule.
I get that totally. You're absolutely right.

But it wasn't me being aggressive. Internet threats etc are embarrassing. I'm as far removed from a keyboard warrior as it's possible to be.

It was just how I see things.

I don't care what people say about me on here. They don't know me. I don't know them.

I'm not here to make friends. It's just a car forum (or at least it used to be).

Internet is one thing. Real world is something else.

I only said it because he said he'd definitely say all those insults to my (or theoretically someone else's) face.

Most people understand that he wouldn't.
OK mate. All received. Understood. Moving on ..... smile

I'm with Gameface on this one.

If I know I wouldn't say something to someone's face, I wouldn't do it from the safety afforded by distance and (relative) anonymity on here. In fact, I'm more likely to bite my tongue on here versus saying whatever it is to their face.

I flat out don't believe that the poster further up would insult Gameface - or any other stranger, to their face in the manner described, and certainly not over a number plate (or the lack of such)

It's the old keyboard warrior thing, or the often used excuse "it's just the internet" as if to say because you can't see the human being that they're interacting with, all bets are off. It's nonsense - as is the the pub analogy above. If people went around pubs speaking to strangers like some people do on here, they'd quickly regret it.

Thanks all. This the thread that keeps on giving.

I recently (pre-covid) forgot to get an MOT, drove 12000 miles on B Roads, A Roads and motorways. No letter, email, text or police stops. Seems that you can do most things motoring related without much concern about getting caught.

We’re now living in a world where:

Our governments are threatening to lock us down.

Most ,if not all, European counties are banning internal combustion engines and insisting on soulless electric vehicles

A lowering of speed limits is being trialled to reduce pollution.

But OMG :handwringingemoji: some people don’t have a front number plate.

Unless of course I’m in a parallel universe and am posting on mumsnet by mistake.

like an internet pub thing.
Imagine the scene: Gameface propped up at the bar and declaring in a loud voice,

Gameface said:
2 of my cars haven't got front plates on. Neither did the third until recently.
Customers continue talking amongst themselves, so he continues,

Gameface said:
Got a tug for it but the coppers knew me and asked me to put one on instead of fining me. Which is why my three didn't run plates and 2 still don't.
Why’s everybody laughing? scratchchin
