Its amazing how so many people suddenly go full on teenage girl when anybody reminds them its illegal.
I'm not surprised in the least myself.Number plate fkuckwittery of any shape or form outside the legal requirement is confirmation the Platee is either entirely ignorant of the law or astonishingly arrogant in their assumption the law doesn't apply to them.
Pass comment on the evidence a ignorant person is being ignorant or a arrogant person is being arrogant then the very nature of a ignorant or arrogant person will invariably provoke a stream of invective and personal abuse rather than a carefully considered response.
Ask me how I know.

Deadly serious, every car I’ve ever owned was fitted with a non falling off front plate.
And that has presumably been a contributing factor in you not ploughing through a bus queue of kids and pensioners. 🙄Not that anyone who does engage in hit and run antics wouldn’t be identified by their rear plate as they drive away from the scene.
Dramatic much???

I haven't called you any names. Rest assured though, anything I say to you on here I would say to your face - but let's try and keep it civil, eh guys ?Yet you are the ones resorting to personal insults, not me.

You said earlier that you are not sticking 2 fingers up to the law and you don't want to attract the attention of the police.
You said that the only reason you don't display a front plate is because you think it spoils the aesthetics of your car.
I pointed out that, actually, you are sticking 2 fingers up to the law and you will attract the attention of the police so your assertion has no logic to it and it has no basis in fact.
Any comment ? Why do you think you are different to everyone else ?

Time to ask my favorite question that nobody can ever answer.
What crucial thing does a front number plate do on a car that it doesn't need to do on a motorbike?
I can answer that question but it's more about what does a number plate on a car not do (unless it's a one in a billion freakish thing) as opposed to what a number plate on a motorbike could do.What crucial thing does a front number plate do on a car that it doesn't need to do on a motorbike?
I'm sure, if you think about it, you can work it out.
Plus the fact that mounting points are difficult to find on modern bikes. Unless you like your plate sideways, which although still difficult rather defeats the object.
Obviously laws can be enforced on bikes even without a front plate so why do cars need them?
If it is a safety thing then why are older bikes given a choice about having one?

When I picked up my Huracan from a main dealer.
I asked why there was a spare number plate in the boot.
They then pointed out they don't fit one on the front.
I then spent a good month arguing with them about fitting a front plate, bare in mind this was a main dealer.
Anyway in the end I bought a stick on one, but the dealers attitude was "it's just a fine don't worry about it".
Last time I looked (which has been a while) the stick-on ones didn't comply with the law (not a flat surface or mounted vertically if I remember correctly). The penalties for a non-compliant numberplate are harsher (points) than having one missing (fine only) - after all, they can quite reasonably drop off, particularly if mounted low and caught on a speed hump.I asked why there was a spare number plate in the boot.

Now, the chances of being pulled up on a stick-on plate are minimal, but as this thread shows, pedants abound.

I'd happily say it to your face, it's moronic arrogant behaviour. all forms of mucking around with fonts, adding dots and squeezing up numbers/letters to make a word, or not displaying the plate to the front. rand the latest trend of having heavily tinted plates that are basically unreadable from 10 metres should be punished with 3 points on your licence.Yet you are the ones resorting to personal insults, not me.

Show me on the doll where the heavily tinted plate touched you!

Actually I am fun, or so my friends say, I'm just sick of people that mess around with number plates, it's a legal requirement so the vehicle in question can be identified, using the children crossing the road was maybe a bit much for sensitive souls, how about if someone with no front plate parked up next to your car and smashed their door into your car denting it?
but the car park's CCTV can't identify the miscreant. I'm sorry if i've upset people.

If you consider giving of these dheads a poxy £100 fine for no front plate when there's inconsiderate and dangerous driving going on as 'doing something' then I'd say you've got pretty low expectations of your local police force. Personally I'd rather they were actually dishing out careless and dangerous driving charges and blasting the length of bans over Facebook. If these people were blighting my life I'd feel something as minor as a £100 fine for a technical offence as utterly insulting.
You might want to take a look at their Facebook page - it has everything from this Lambo to Fiestas, mini cabs and even a tractor.. Offences range from leaving an unattended vehicle running (the tractor) through uninsured drivers to 3 digit speeding offences.Edited by The Wookie on Tuesday 27th October 14:11

I know. It couldn't have been me because I didn't revert to name calling.
Any chance of an answer to my question ?
I'm no different to anyone else per se, but I make my own decisions and live with the consequences. Any chance of an answer to my question ?
If you knew me you'd realise a number plate infringement is of no consequence in the grand scheme of things.
One pull in over 3 years (for which I didn't even get fined) is a level of "attracting attention" from you lot, that I can live with.
