I am MD of a 23 year old successful company in the events industry and that’s gone until I don’t know when, not even sure it will come back.
I have money in the bank but had to make 9 people redundant and hibernate everything. Regardless of having money to pay bills the mental torture I’ve been through over the last 7 months trying to help good staff who have worked for me for some time had sadly pushed me to the point of having to brake at the last second when an image of my son flashed through my head....
I am still low, some days very, very I’m now a courier driving around earning 25% of what I used to (the money isn’t everything it’s contributing to society and being the bread winner that makes me get up each day).

This is why people like Isaldiri, quite rightly IMO take issue with you. You state things as fact then revert them to being opinion afterwards when questioned. You are very good at accepting your own point of view but seem to take great exception when people don't follow. Just read back what you typed:
'Discuss the content or don't bother' Is that not telling me NOT to discuss what I consider a relevant fact?.
Get over yourself
You have misunderstood me.'Discuss the content or don't bother' Is that not telling me NOT to discuss what I consider a relevant fact?.
Get over yourself
I think you have chosen to disagree with something in the video which is of little relevance to what I believe to be the central point.
If you want to discuss the core content of the video, then that is fine. If you don’t want to so the that is also fine.
That’s all I said.
If you want to talk about the content I would be delighted to do so. I found it really interesting, which is why I posted it.

I've finally managed to download the death statistics in an .xls format from the official ONS website for weekly deaths, and was quite astonished to note that the overall numbers have hardly moved for the past few months apart from the spike earlier in the year when the epidemic peaked in the UK.
For info the .xls files for this and previous years are available from this link:
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...
I'm not that good with spreadsheets so wonder whether Elysium or someone else that is equally talented could take a look and convert the total death figures into a graph, and overlay a few earlier years so that we can compare the numbers.

The graph was posted by PH member kiethton on page 40 of the 'lockdown Imminent (vol 2)' thread, and like he said, we're being played each and every way. Is utterly disgraceful they way the politicians and the press are behaving, there needs to be an inquiry after this and the regulations need to be changed so that both sides of the argument can be shown in the news. This is not North Korea.

We need to stay strong for each other and try and focus on the positives when we are able to.
I always read your posts on your experiences during the last few months. You have borne the brunt of the economic damage from covid, being in the events business.I am MD of a 23 year old successful company in the events industry and that’s gone until I don’t know when, not even sure it will come back.

Honestly, many would have crumbled under similar pressure. The fact you have had the resilience to start something new shows remarkable resilience and tenacity.

Thanks for the support, gents (and ladies - I'm not sure who is what on here) - it is appreciated.
This thread and the reasoned logic in it is about the only thing keeping me sane, and I've just about feeling like I've been keeping my head above water mentally.
Being told we've got to again be imprisoned if we're not working or shopping, and that apparently whole towns are going to be forcibly tested andremoved against their will 'helped to self isolate' by the armed forces feels all a bit too much.
I presume this is where Schedule 21 gets rolled out and our 'freedom pass' / 'Health Passports' are 'awarded', but I cannot quite believe this can legally be happening.
I'm not feeling at risk of doing something silly (yet...) but I am wondering what's the point of everything right now. I didn't vote to live in a Martial Law / Police State / Surveillance society and I am utterly against such an invasion of our personal lives - and that's without considering the potential for DNA harvesting that my Tin Foil hat says could be happening by stealth.
I am using this forum as a way to keep sane in difficult times as well. As I have said, I truly feel for all those people who are being impacted by this madness. Whether that be financially, loosing their jobs, businesses etc., mentally, in their relationships, health wise, losing loved ones, the list is sadly endless. This thread and the reasoned logic in it is about the only thing keeping me sane, and I've just about feeling like I've been keeping my head above water mentally.

We are being lied to by the government and they are manipulating the figures to cover their backsides and for other reasons of which i cannot understand.
We really do need to make a stand against this - not sure how but I will be joining in that is for sure - and this is from a 60 year old who has always conformed!
This video by Sumption is the truth:

We have veered into authoritarianism. Our freedom is at risk and ‘bad actors’ are trying to profit from the situation. This is not conspiracy. It’s real.
It’s time to take a stand for what we believe in. No apologies. No guilt. We just need to do what is right for ourselves and our loved ones.
We are not alone now. Many people oppose this and we are beginning to organise:

A fairly basic view at best. Sad that we are going to spend remembrance Sunday with most freedoms removed.

Our local hospital trust covers 250,000 people, from the 1st to the 25th October there were 16 people admitted to hospital with Covid.
16... 0.006% Our town has a population of 60,000 so from that 4 people have ended up in hospital. Not dead just in hospital. Now explain to me again why we are locking down?
Were they in just because of Covid, or did they have a heart attack and aLso tested for Covid with a dodgy test that they keep cycling until it hits yes.16... 0.006% Our town has a population of 60,000 so from that 4 people have ended up in hospital.
