Today, the House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing on Postal Service Reforms. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is a witness.

Hopefully they will push on how DeJpys 'reforms' were part of trumps attempt to steal the election.

So it turns out Neera Tanden criticised Joe Manchin's daughter for her extraordinary pay increases, after she raised the price of the Epi-Pen from $100 to $600 and moved Mylan's HQ to the Netherlands to reduce taxes.

So it looks like he won't confirm her because she called out his daughter’s greed?

Biden to sign an exec order to tackle shortages of microchips, traction batteries, REEs and pharmaceuticals.
reuters said:
... Administration officials said Biden’s executive order, to be signed at 4:15 p.m. EST, will launch a 100-day review of supply chains for four critical products: semiconductor chips, large-capacity batteries for electric vehicles, rare earth minerals and pharmaceuticals...

... “We urge the president and Congress to invest ambitiously in domestic chip manufacturing and research,” the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said.

U.S. semiconductor firms account for 47% of global chip sales but only 12% of production because they have outsourced much of the manufacturing overseas, according to SIA. In 1990, the United States accounted for 37% of global semiconductor production...
Corporate america enriched itself offshoring stuff, no doubt the SIA were cheerleading this. Yay pork barrel!

Making REEs needs a value chain; the chinese systematically bought up or priced out of the market most of the competition. Can the US make REEs domestically? Yes they can, but the regulatory burden that helped drive the domestic industry out of business is still there and there doesn't seem to be any appetite for addressing it now, unless Reuters are being obtuse and not covering it.

Manchin is a self serving DINO. He needs to be primaried out. Better to lose the seat to a real republican and know where you stand. Manchin has voted with the GOP over 1100 times. He's a Republican in all but name.

The Biden administration will release an intelligence report Thursday that concludes that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved the 2018 killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to three U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The intelligence assessment, based largely on work by the CIA, is not new — NBC News was among the organizations that confirmed it in 2018. But its public release will mark a significant new chapter in the U.S.-Saudi relationship and a clear break by President Joe Biden with former President Donald Trump’s policy of equivocating about the Saudi state’s role in a brutal murder that was widely condemned by members of Congress, journalists and a United Nations investigator.

Reuters first reported on the declassified intelligence summary slated for release Thursday.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday that Biden would communicate with the Saudi king, rather than his son the crown prince. She said the declassified Khashoggi report was being prepared for release soon.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/all/new-public-report...

Agnes Callamard, who investigated the killing for the United Nations, accused Saudi Arabia of a “deliberate, premeditated execution, an extrajudicial killing for which the state of Saudi Arabia is responsible under international human rights law.”

The CIA presented the White House with its assessment in 2018, but it did not appear to change Trump’s friendly relations with Saudi Arabia and bin Salman in particular.

Correcting a shameful part of US history under the trump administration

Lawyers are making progress in locating the parents of children split from families at the border: 105 families have been reunited since last month. 506 migrant children are still separated from their parents.

Lawyers are still trying to locate the parents of 506 children who had been split from their families at the US-Mexico border by the Trump administration, according to a new court filing -- down from a month ago, when attorneys were looking for the parents of 611 children.

Wednesday's filing is the first under the Biden administration, which is now responsible for the reunification of families separated at the US-Mexico border as a result of former President Donald Trump's controversial "zero tolerance" immigration policy.
The new administration has taken a markedly different tone in talking about the Trump-era policy, which called for the criminal prosecutions of every adult illegally crossing the border and, as a result, led to the separation of thousands of families.

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden signed an executive order establishing a new task force designed to identify and reunify separated families. The task force, chaired by the Homeland Security secretary, is intended to work across the US government, along with partners, to find parents separated from their children under the former administration.

Biden called the policy a "stain" on the country's reputation during the signing of the executive order setting up the task force. "By the grace of God and goodwill of the neighbors, we'll reunite these children and reestablish our reputation as being a haven for people in need," he said at the time.

A close ally of Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took part in the January 6 mob at the Capitol and said he was among those who eventually made their way into the building.

Greene, a freshman congresswoman with a history of promoting dangerous and violent conspiracies and comments, encouraged the big lie that the election was stolen from former President Donald Trump by voting to object to the election certification and fanned the flames of the insurrection by telling her supporters to "fight for Trump."

In tweets after the Capitol insurrection, Greene falsely suggested that those who had broken into the Capitol were not Republicans and instead falsely implied so-called "Antifa" dressed as Trump supporters were to blame.

In fact, Anthony Aguero, a conservative livestreamer, activist and associate of Greene, said on video following the January 6 assault on the Capitol that he had been among those who entered and attacked those who falsely claimed it was done by "Antifa."
"We were all there. It was not Antifa and it was not BLM. It was Trump supporters that did that yesterday. I'm the first to admit it, being one myself," said Aguero in a video posted on January 7. "I walked amongst all those people," he added, later defending entering the Capitol.

Greene and Aguero have worked closely together over the years on causes such as immigration and the border wall and have attended pro-Trump rallies together. In many since-deleted videos saved by CNN's KFile, Greene repeatedly calls Aguero "amazing" and a "friend." On social media, Aguero has called Greene "one of my closest friends."

Speaking of Greene

Rep. Marie Newman (D-Ill.) said Wednesday she installed a trans pride flag outside her office after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R.-Ga.), who works in a neighboring office, called an LGBTQ rights bill “an attack on God’s creation.”

“Our neighbor, @RepMTG, tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is ‘disgusting, immoral, and evil.’ Thought we’d put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door,” Newman tweeted.

The Illinois Democrat included a video of herself adding the flag and a shot of Greene’s office directly across the hall.

Greene earlier this week called the Equality Act “a direct attack on God’s creation” that would ensure “men who dress and think they are women will have rights over all real girls and women.”

Biden has announced three USPS Board of Governors nominees: Anton Hajjar, Amber McReynolds, & Ron Stroman.

Hajjar: Ex-general counsel of the Postal Workers Union
McReynolds: CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute
Stroman: Served as Deputy Postmaster General

If confirmed, the nominees would give Democrats a majority on the board of governors, with potentially enough votes to oust DeJoy.

Some think that isn't far enough.

Sen. Duckworth: "In order to truly build back public trust in this vital agency, President Biden must replace all members of the board who looked the other way when DeJoy implemented and accelerated devastating policies that caused widespread delays and system-wide backlogs."

The new slate would create a Democratic advantage and potentially the votes to oust DeJoy, whose summer overhaul led to precipitous service declines that snarled up untold numbers of Americans’ bills, prescriptions and paychecks. DeJoy, with the current board’s backing, slashed overtime and dramatically reduced mail processing capabilities, moves deemed by an inspector general’s audit to reflect a lack of preparation or concern for how they might affect service.

Though the mail slowdowns have opened DeJoy to intense public scrutiny and raised the hackles of some postal experts and voting rights activists, he has made clear he would continue to push through his agenda to rein in the agency’s $188.4 billion in liabilities. He testified to a House panel Wednesday that discussions for his new strategic plan included further delivery slowdowns.

The two private jets used by a Saudi Arabian assassination squad that killed and allegedly dismembered journalist Jamal Khashoggi were owned by a company that less than a year prior had been seized by the Kingdom's powerful crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, according to recently filed court documents seen by CNN.

The documents, filed as part of a Canadian civil lawsuit earlier this year, are labeled "Top Secret" and signed by a Saudi minister who relayed the orders of the crown prince, the young de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia.
"According to the instruction of His Highness the Crown Prince," the minister wrote according to a translation, "immediately approve the completion of the necessary procedures for this."
The filing lays out how ownership of Sky Prime Aviation was ordered to be transferred into the country's $400 billion sovereign wealth fund in late 2017. The company's planes were later used in the October 2018 killing of Khashoggi.

As an aside, anyone following the case of the South Dakota AG, who ran down and killed someone, left the scene and told the police he thought he'd hit a deer. He also said he was in the middle of the road, but it appears he hit him on the shoulder. He was charged with three misdemeanors only.

They found the poor guys glasses in the car, which means his head went through the windscreen. They also have evidence of him on his phone at the time,

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/02/24/politics/south-...

lots of detail here:
https://twitter.com/Ajzionts/status/13644488913122...

new facts presented

"We know those are his glasses, they were on his head, because thy were seen on his head (by witnesses). They ended up in your car."
"We know Jason that you weren't in the middle of the road. You were on the shoulder." The investigator says bone was found in the rumble bar between the road + shoulder.

Investigator: says Boever (man killed) walked w/ flashlight+it remained on after the crash, when the AG walked around.

"After the crash did you see that light in the dark? B/c it's pitch dark. If there's something glowing, it would make sense for you to see it."

With the report into MBS about to come out, Rachel Maddow on her show revealed that in the days after MBS had Khashoggi murdered, Mnuchin canceled an MBS summit he had been planning to attend, but then he privately met with MBS anyway. Now Mnuchin is launching an international investment firm and specifically seeking investments from the Middle East.

Maddow said he spent his trump time “giving away the store” to Middle Eastern despots and now he’s cashing in with those same despots.
