That's absolutely, categorically, nothing like what's been said.

I don't know how people of your ideological ilk always seem to grasp onto these sorts of statements out-of-context, totally misrepresent them, then argue white is black that your self-evidently flawed interpretation. I can only conclude its an intentional thing designed to make discussion on the specifics of claims utterly unworkable by throwing out obvious non sequiturs then getting irrationally upset when people don't address them on their (complete lack of) merits and instead disregard them as obvious bunk.
AOC said (on her Twitter feed): "The death certificate must indicate that COVID was or likely was the cause of death. Many localities are amending death certificates now because of all the confusion in the early days of COVID. New Yorkers can start the process of amending death certificate by calling 311."

Is that, plus the lure $9000 no-strings handout, catagorically not encouraging people to see if the certificate can be changed?

The profile was legit AFAICT. He showed up as a 3rd level contact for me, and the employment history looked sane. Also not surprising his profile has gone as he'll be in hot water with his bosses and possible getting hundreds of unwanted "contact request" messages!

However, it's typical "mountain-out-of-molehill" stuff. This is a mid-level broadcast techie trying to impress a date. It's not senior management.
So he wasn’t telling the truth then?
No... That isn't what he said.

You are running out of straws to grasp at.... However I notice your complete silence on Matt Gaetz.
So he was telling the truth then?

No that isn't what I said.

And I'm pretty sure you don't even understand your own argument at this point. You're trying to prove something that isn't there and no one else can see.

All you've got is a screenshot to a non existent Linked in profile... Both of which can be faked with such ease that no one with half a brain would accept them as evidence.

I.E. I can change my linked in profile to crown me God-King of the universe, it won't make it true and really, you've got to be a complete idiot to fall for it... Let alone a screenshot of it.

I'll catagorically say it as you seem to have so much difficulty... no it is not the truth and you're and idiot if you think it is.

Still nothing on Gaetz from your end though. Almost as if you're avoiding something quite uncomfortable.

So the YouTube video was set up and what he said wasn’t true?

Gaetz is a different discussion and you are using it as a deflection in this instance.

So many posts.
So little intelligence.

The MAGA - heads on here are not arguing in good faith, just throwing faeces and hoping some stick.

Except that's not what the Twitter posts were about.

The link in question:
https://www.fema.gov/disasters/coronavirus/economi...

No talk of "no strings handouts", simply providing people advice on how to enact the process of seeking review of death certificates in order that people are able to claim in line with FEMA's economic assistance plans.

And yet you turn it into some vast conspiratorial enterprise.

It is exactly what the Twitter posts are about. You are attempting to mislead and posting in bad faith.

The funeral payment scheme is not means tested (according to AOC on the basis too much form filling discrinates against the poor) and individuals can claim more than $30,000 dollars for multiple funerals. AOC also points out that people can seek to have death certificates altered where it does not include Covid (whether or not they manage is another matter, the fact is she is encouraging them to do so).

The effects of this policy are obvious; no wonder the telephone lines have been oversubscribed and people can't get through to claim.

It is yet another reckless tranch from the $2tn magic money tree that will contribute to overheating of the US economy and all that entails for RoW.

AOC is simply giving out information to her constituents,as any good representative should (& IMHO she is very good at that) If Covid was not put on the death certificate,by mistake in the chaos of the earlier days of the pandemic, there is an option to review, presumably by actual doctors!
I agree about the means testing of grants but perhaps it would cost too much to do, especially in America as the rich will have health insurance so better treatment and less likely to die.

I took the screenshot direct from LinkedIn and posted it. Unless you want a photo with custard, you'll have to take my word for that.

Everything I saw tallied with that being a real profile. I work in the same industry and he came up as a contact. Just labelling stuff as "Fake News" is from the Trump playbook ,so please don't take that route!

I think he exists, and It's likely him in the video. As to the "truth" of what he said, or it's relevance, I have no idea. Every network that chose not to repeat and amplify Trump's endless lies has helped elect Biden.

Haha, what a farce that was.

Like most things, you need balance. Giving immigrants the impression (even if it's a false one) that it's open season brings its own set of problems.

In UK politics I'm right of centre, traditionally Tory. That probably puts me in between Dems and Reps, perhaps closer to Dems. Biden however is going off on a lefty crusade which I think might ultimately be more destabilising and damaging to the RoW than Trump's craziness. Time will tell.

Pretty sure both the Dems and Reps are to the right of where the Tories currently are.

It's blatant wealth redistribution. It'll get spaffed by the poor in two seconds flat and end up back in the billionaires' pockets. Meanwhile the economy overheats and the borrowing costs go up and the poor people end up paying more, again.

Fixing inequality takes time and is about empowering those at the bottom through education and encouraging them into professions and entrepreneurship.

I'm not so sure the distinction is in recognition of inequality, more the solution. It's no surprise if the disadvantages like free money more than being told the solution will take time.

It also isn't about extremes of only one approach at any one time. Right leaning governments don't remove all state support any more than left ones tax only the wealthy. There's a toolbox and your leaning in one direction or another will dictate which tools you turn to ahead of others and by how much.

I suppose I feel the right, left to its own unfettered devices, can end up giving capitalism too much free reign and that can be toxic. Equally toxic is reducing incentives for self improvement and wealth creation that sometimes results from the left.

It's no more or less gaulling being told to toughen up by a right wing millionaire than it is being told you earn too much by a left wing one.

You do realise that by handing out money this way all it will do is hurt middle classes by direct/indirect tax and product increases and benefit the top 0.1% who own outright or by share ownership companies selling crap to the people getting these hand outs? All Dems are doing is encouraging laziness and creating more class warfare. Billionaires are getting richer either way due to automation and globalisation and no-one can stop that. Smart billionaire money already changed investments based on the election outcome. Notice how petrol prices have doubled in the US (since the Democrats stopped new pipelines) where 99% of people have no access to public transport? Notice how Warren Buffet and co all bought significantly into oil companies yet are big Democrat supporters.

If the goal is to give money to the needy from Covid impact then raise un-employment insurance. Don't throw money at anyone under 150k whether or not they have lost their job.
