Vaccine figures from the .gov website - from the 13-19 April inclusive (day from when the 45 and over was opened up to Monday) there were 781,639 1st dose vaccinations. Assuming all 781,639 were in the 45-49 age group and that 60% figure is correct then there are only 1.669 Million people in the 45-49 age group scratchchin
Hmmm something doesn't add up.
I'm 48 and received my 1st jab on the 24th of March which suggests something like a 3 week head start on the 'official' release of vaccine to the 45-49 age group?

The numbers for 1st jabs were much higher back then so say 100,000 per day were in the 45-49 age group thats possibly 2.1m first jabs.

The numbers are pure speculation on my part, not trying to start an arguement here thumbup
Up to the 11th April almost 7 million under 50s had already had their first jab. At risk and NHS / Care home staff have already had their jab remember.

Vaccination according to age is in the weekly data...

Hence it was clear early last year, covid wasn't being spread via surfaces. And yet, no-one in authority updates any of the public health policies, which leaves many people unnecessarily frightened. And which also results in many people taking "precautions" in their daily life against covid which are totally unnecessary.
Or more importantly, perhaps people mixing indoors with others, believing that so long as they disinfect surfaces and don't touch the them then they are at a low risk.

We could take it one step further.

When did the government know that the "classic" symptoms of covid e.g. "high fever", "dry cough" and "loss of taste" weren't actually the definitive symptom list for covid?

Prof Spector (who runs the Zoe app) has been saying for nearly a year now the list of symptoms should be expanded to include things like muscle ache, sore throat, upset stomach etc.

Or how about people being told to wear masks as that offers "protection". And so they mix for extended periods of time, indoors, with people who are infected and then wonder why they caught covid, despite everyone wearing a mask.

Or the highly publicised risk of "asymptomatic transmission" when in reality the latest data shows most aren't actually asymptomatic at all - they just didn't have the classic three symptoms, as so assumed they didn't have covid. Genuine asymptomatic infections look to be rare (something like 1 in 20 people).

I can see the problem for the government and why they haven't updated the advice - it risks confusion and misunderstanding. But I think we haven't been given good quality information, unless you are willing to search for it and read the actual scientific papers yourself.

Sky News reports Tony Blair wading in to say there's no excuse for dodging the vaccine.

Millions pick up the phone to cancel their appointments...hehe

He does look as though he's about to keel over, doesn't he?

I'd chase first thing in the morning. If you had the first one at the start of Feb you are close to the top of the priority list, and you now need your second asap.

He certainly looks a shadow of his former self - probably the frustration of nobody listening to him for 20 years.

Doubt it. Must have been someone else's fault surely?

Indeed. As with most politicians, it’s always something/someone else that was at fault.

Horrible man

That's something I do agree with, one of the most odious people to ever be involved with British politics.
