Heard the education minister on Radio Scotland explaining why on the one hand the SQA is ste and is being abolished while at the same time this year's kids can have full confidence in their results.

anyone had a read of the article on wings regarding the missing £600k referendum fighting fund:

https://wingsoverscotland.com/the-weekend-cartoon/

so the ‘ring fenced’ only to be spent on an independence referendum donations have actually been spent, but it’s ok because we’ve ‘earmarked’ future income to cover the cost. and anyway seeing as our sole purpose is independence, then everything we spend money on is for the cause….. therefor we have already spent the money towards a referendum campaign, so calm doon everybody!

what happens if they don’t get more donations to cover what they’ve already spent?!?

So is education as big a st show as feared or has the report whitewashed it into looking fantastic?

I think the question has been “how can we do this better?” rather than “is this a st idea that has failed everywhere else?”.

So they will scrap the SQA, and in all likelihood re-employ most of the old staff from the SQA, because of experience etc, call it the NSQA (the novel NEW SQA) and blame Westminster, the English, and the Toooooaarries for not acceding to Independence. It's a routine of the SNP. biggrin

I predict she will let the Scots out 1 day before the rUK. Because obviously you need another layer of local bureaucracy costing hundreds of millions to announce such stuff. Mammy cares.

Personally I reckon the Euros will be got out the way and then the high case rates will be used as an excuse to redouble the attack on the hospitality industry. Might get a pint in the pub this week, but no doubt another "16 day" (270 in reality) circuit breaker will appear.

I emailed my MSP this morning, asking if an exemption could be made for me to travel to Manchester provided I brought 19,999 mates and we all waved enough Saltires biggrin

Iirc that is allowed on the list of essential travel reasons not that the ban is in anyway enforceable. Just make sure you have your appointment paperwork or invoice with you just in case.

Why would he need to have an appointment or paperwork? As I understand Manchester Airport is included in Greater Manchester, the restriction, assuming Sturgeon's comments were accurate, is limited to the city of Manchester. Where he goes thereafter is no one's business.

If police actually stop him and ask for his reason of travel he can prove its for an essential reason and be on his way.

Bizarrely, despite its location, Ringway appears to be a civil parish within the City of Manchester - Heald Green, to the north, is in Stockport, so would be exempt.

Whole thing is just a mess, but I suspect they were somewhat emboldened by the lack of push-back from the other areas they previously banned travel to. I suspect they're just surprised that Burnham has stood up to them more than anything.

I stand corrected. My understanding that it wasn't actually within the city boundary.

Found a better map - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Manchester#/... - the city is a really funny shape, with the "centre" actually in the north of the council area and the airport in Bucklow at the very southern tip. I didn't know this either until I looked it up earlier.
