Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 10
Discussion
This article might have slipped your attention this week, but well done to the author for the deliberately evocative title.
Why is the First Minister playing away from home?
A piece on the ScotGov wasting money setting up phoney Scottish embassies is never going to be at risk of breaching a super injunction.

That is unbelievable they are basically traitors to the UK...spending millions world wide trying to undermine the UK government has to be an act of treason they need to be in jail. Why is the First Minister playing away from home?

The UK treasury must do a complete audit on the spending of the SNP to uncover what else they are trying to influence and shut them down.
Scotland is suffering badly due to SNP but the brainwashed still shout "FREEDOM" and don't realise they are being sold down the river just look at the state of the place due to SNP cuts but they continue to get away with this...something needs to be done.
What a horrid treacherous dispicable lot.
Niall Ferguson has a nice turn of phrase.
"Although an inquiry concluded that Sturgeon had not breached the ministerial code, enabling her to win a confidence vote comfortably last month, there is a lingering whiff of unpleasantness in the air, faintly reminiscent of a Glasgow pub the morning after a stooshie. There is sawdust on the floor and carbolic soap in the air, but specks of blood and shards of glass give the game away."

I'm not sure Alba is gaining much overt support judging by the usual banner in driveway/garden sites on a drive through Moray and Speyside today. Only one of the normal yellow supporting locations seemed to have turned bright blue. This was the most rundown, jaded, and junk filled of the selection.
Heard of couple of facepainters on Radio Scotland phone in this morning ...
“We’ll actual be quite wealthy because we’ll be getting our share of all of the assets, the gold reserves and stuff”
“I’ll be voting for SNP to get my free bus pass and free prescriptions”
Another SNP voter was wondering when their carer would be back because they’ve not been for a year and they need them to take them out to get their breakfast on a Wednesday and take them to the “boozer” on a Friday night.
The mind boggles.

but may increase if the Barnett funding allocated to scotland increases./
A serious question regarding Barnett: Does the formula apply to everyone in Scotland or only to those on the periphery? I would argue all those in the central belt have no need to have Barnett applied to them and this should only apply to far flung islanders?More madness from Little Miss Leading - Km il Sturjong

I found sturgeon's interview with Sophie Ridge interesting yeasterday.
Basically in the next 5 year parliamentary term sturgeon's commitment to NHS funding will be a back stop, but may increase if the Barnett funding allocated to scotland increases.
Admirable and not doubt a vote winner, how does that relate to any notion of independence over the next 5 years then?

Sounds to me as though she has no intention of independence in that case! As the Barnett funding should cease on day 1 of the new Sturgetopia, or "oh fk" day as it'll be known.Basically in the next 5 year parliamentary term sturgeon's commitment to NHS funding will be a back stop, but may increase if the Barnett funding allocated to scotland increases.

In short, 1m distancing at the table right down to tier zero (imagine how long your 10 people from 4 households at tier zero table would be!), dominoes banned indefinitely, bingo is so dangerous that you need to wear a mask all the time, but drinking & playing bingo is OK, pool is OK but only if snooker halls are open & darts are only at tiers 1 & 0.
What the actual fk?

Am I a bad person for longing to be able to walk into a busy pub, without booking or using an app, walk to the bar, squeeze in between another couple of punters, and standing at the bar throw back a pint while talking pish?
Not at all, those days seem so long ago now. And fk knows when control freak wobbleheid will let us.I am old enough to remember visiting the north of Lewis in the 1970s when the entire area was dry. The need for a social drink was met by locals drinking in bothans - unlicensed locals only sheds. I wasn't old enough to use them but my dad was invited along by a relative. Must be a market for them again.

What really concerns me is what will happen if/when there is significant divergence in personal freedoms from England. When the Scottish parliament was set up was it ever envisaged that the First Minster may use their powers to significantly restrict the rights of Scottish citizens versus rUK?
The 'keeping Scotland safe' narrative keeps getting trotted out, which is ironic considering COVID infection rate is worse in Scotland. But, speaking as someone who was broadly in favour of most of the restrictions, there comes a time, and it's fast approaching as the vaccination programme, even in a lagging Scotland, comes good, that we have to say this can't go on any longer.
From what I see the hospitality and tourism industries in Scotland have been decimated, and such ridiculous proposals as discussed above will only further damage the country. Similarly I understand there has been no Scottish government consultation with the airlines and airports - where does this leave the Scottish tourist industry, Scottish Airports and airlines operating out of Scotland? And where does it leave all those folks who had cancelled holidays and flights last year that have been rebooked for 2021?

I'd love to come to Scotland - it's where half of my family come from. Which is gutting
It is crunch time for ScotGov's elimination strategy - no hiding now.
Everyone in the hospitality trade is revisiting their risk assessments prior to reopening, reading the draft guidance and asking themselves "What the actual fk?"
The vast majority of the vulnerable population have had at least one vaccination jag and the social distancing guidance is more restrictive than last summer.
Life is going to be extinguished by an asteroid hitting the Earth. It's going to happen. Sometime. So get under the table now.
