more capitol arests

A South Carolina husband and wife have been arrested and charged by the FBI for their role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, ABC4News reports.

John H. Getsinger Jr., 52, and Stacie Ann Hargis-Getsinger, 43 were arrested on Tuesday and later released on $75,000 bond. They’ve been charged with:

Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building,
Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building,
Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct While Parading,
Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building,
Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building

Someone giving a tip to the FBI said that a video exists of the Getsingers entering the Capitol building yelling, “This is War! We’re storming the Capitol!” according to an FBI affidavit.

Another tipster told the FBI that Stacie Getsinger made a post on her Facebook page which read, “The [presidential] election was rigged, and this ain’t over.”

Trump on Hannity last night finally admitted he didn't win

Trump: We didn’t win but let’s see what happened on that
https://twitter.com/i/status/1405343301033631746

Edit: Whilst on Tucker Carlson he's still trying to make up stuff to excuse the insurrection attempt
Tucker: Those events apparently were at least in part organized and carried out in secret by people connected to federal law enforcement
https://twitter.com/i/status/1405316811415953410

I'm not sure what he's trying to claim here. Biden didn't take over until the 20th so is he admitting trump did this... biggrin

Tucker Carlson's theory that the FBI organized the Capitol riot is a remarkable conspiracy theory even for him

Carlson’s theory is essentially that the presence of unindicted co-conspirators in the Capitol riot indictments means those people are government agents and that this, in turn, means the FBI was involved in organizing the riot. The idea has since caught on with conspiratorially minded congressional Republicans.

The theory was promoted Wednesday by Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

The first thing to emphasize is that Carlson’s theory is based on a report in Revolver News. The site is run by Darren Beattie, who appeared on Carlson’s show shortly after the above monologue. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Beattie is a former Trump White House speechwriter who was fired in 2018 over a past appearance on a panel with a white nationalist, Peter Brimelow, at a conference attended by well-known white nationalists.

The second and perhaps most important point is that the basis of Carlson’s theory — that the unindicted co-conspirators are either likely or must be government agents — is extremely shaky.

Quite a few reports that Melania wasn't at trumps small 75th birthday party

Donald Trump marked his 75th birthday on Monday in a rather low-key way with a dinner at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Son Donald Trump Jr. shared the celebration on his Instagram page revealing a rather interesting guest list — Donald Jr.’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, former NFL star Herschel Walker, Indiana congressman Jim Banks and Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert. Donald’s wife, Melania, was nowhere to be seen.

Jimmy Kimmel had his own theory
“Aww, look at that. What a party, all the best people were there,” Kimmel cracked. “Although I couldn’t help but notice: His wife wasn’t. His 75th birthday, this is a big birthday. Where’s Melania?”

During a hearing this week, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray over the shooting death of Ashli Babbitt, the QAnon-believing woman who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 along with a mob of Trump supporters, saying that she was "executed."

"It's disturbing," Gosar said. "The Capitol Police officer that did that shooting appeared to be hiding, lying in wait and then gave no warning before killing her."

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) doesn't see it that way. Responding to Gosar's comments on Twitter, Gallego posted a photo that he took on Jan. 6, showing the mob outside the door where Babbitt was shot.

Ruben Gallego
@RubenGallego
This is what the the Capitol Police officer faced. I took this photo minutes before the insurrectionist was shot. He was the last line of defense between us and the insurrectionists. GOP loves to say “back the blue” but really it is only when politically convenient.

I took this picture knowing the Republicans would try to memory hole the January 6th insurrection. Sad that I was proven right.

Disgusting really.

What's the big deal? His core support are domestic terrorists.

This is nothing more than branching out to international terrorists.

Diversifying, if you will.

All 11 Senate Judiciary Democrats are calling on Attorney General Garland to release the full OLC memo that purportedly justified Bill Barr's decision not to charge Trump with criminal obstruction of justice in the Russia scandal — with no redactions.

President Biden’s Justice Department is in an undeniably difficult position. Given the epic corruption of the department by his predecessor, Donald Trump, maximal transparency and accountability are now imperative. But this will inevitably clash with the department’s understandable desire to cling to certain institutional prerogatives.

Senate Democrats have a key role to play in pushing the department toward transparency and accountability. And they are doing so, prompted by the department’s highly questionable refusal to release the full memo that purportedly justified former Attorney General William P. Barr’s decision not to charge Trump with criminal obstruction of justice in the Russia scandal.

All 11 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee just fired off a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, calling on him to release this memo in full, with no redactions. Led by Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), the committee chair, they argue that precedence and transparency require it.

“Please provide the memo, or your legal justification for withholding it, to the committee by June 30, 2021,” reads the letter, which was provided to me in advance of its release.

The memo is important because it could shed light on how the department — and, more broadly, the rule of law — were deeply corrupted to help Trump escape accountability for potential crimes.

They aren't messing with the details they want from the attorney general "If we are to believe these denials..."
It's a huge list they know about and want details of...including point 1 an investigation called Artic Haze?

"According to longstanding policy, however, Department personnel are prohibited from issuing
subpoenas of this nature without authorization by the Attorney General.11 There are limited
exceptions to this policy, none of which appear to apply here.12 In recent days, former Attorney
General Jeff Sessions, former Attorney General William Barr, and former Deputy Attorney
General Rod Rosenstein have all denied knowledge of subpoenas targeting Congress.

If we are
to believe these denials, even if the abuse of these authorities is limited to these three cases, we
must determine if the Department deviated from its established procedures for conducting such
investigations and if this was done without proper authorization from senior Department
officials. We need to know the names of those Department officials involved in these decisions.
And, of course, we need to understand the scope of the problem and whether it is limited to the
cases that have been reported so far.

Prosecutors urged a judge Wednesday to impose a “very substantial” prison sentence on Michael Avenatti for trying to extort millions of dollars from Nike.

Prosecutors noted in a Manhattan federal court submission that Probation Office officials recommend an eight-year prison term for the California attorney who gained fame three years ago through his representation of porn star Stormy Daniels against then-President Donald Trump.

“The defendant, a prominent attorney and media personality with a large public following, betrayed his client and sought to enrich himself by weaponizing his public profile in an attempt to extort a publicly-traded company out of tens of millions of dollars. This was an egregious abuse of trust, and it warrants real and serious punishment,” prosecutors wrote.

Ah Florida GOP, when not having drug fueled parties with Gaetz etc...
Florida Republican threatens to send Russian-Ukrainian ‘hit squad’ after rival

A little-known GOP candidate in one of Florida’s most competitive congressional seats was secretly recorded threatening to send “a Russian and Ukrainian hit squad” to a fellow Republican opponent to make her “disappear.”

During a 30-minute call with a conservative activist that was recorded before he became a candidate, William Braddock repeatedly warned the activist to not support GOP candidate Anna Paulina Luna in the Republican primary for a Tampa Bay-area congressional seat because he had access to assassins. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.), who is running for governor.

“I really don't want to have to end anybody's life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” Braddock said at one point in the conversation last week, according to the recording exclusively obtained by POLITICO. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Luna is a f---ing speed bump in the road. She's a dead squirrel you run over every day when you leave the neighborhood.”

Arizona Fraudit news.

Data collected from the widely criticized pro-Trump Arizona vote "audit" has now been shipped to a mysterious "lab" in Montana to be "forensically evaluated."

CNN reports that the data was shipped to property in Montana owned by Cipher LLC, a contractor hired by vote audit firm Cyber Ninjas to analyze data.

However, the so-called lab's exact location in the state remains a secret.

CNN reporter Gary Tuchman did some detective work and discovered a piece of property owned by Cipher's CEO in Montana, but he could not determine whether that location was the one where the data was taken.

The property in question was located deep within the woods and features a large house, a smaller cabin, and a barn.

"Is this the secure, powerful laboratory?" Tuchman asked. "Is Arizona voting data inside that cabin? We just don't know -- but it could be!"

A slight majority of Republican voters say that state-level reviews of the 2020 presidential election will uncover information that will reverse the outcome of the race, according to a new Morning Consult-Politico poll.

A majority of Republicans in the poll, 51 percent, indicated they think reviews of the 2020 election will change its outcome, including 29 percent who "definitely" think it will change the outcome and 22 percent who think it "probably" will change the results.

Overall, the poll found that roughly three-quarters of GOP voters — 74 percent — support state-level efforts to review and examine the 2020 election. In Arizona, for instance, the state Senate has for months been conducting a hand recount and audit of the vote in the state’s largest county.

The survey is based on responses from 1,994 registered voters gathered online from June 11 to 13, and has a margin of sampling error of 2 percentage points.

Given how much the GOP and media are pushing lies about election fraud I'm not surprised a lot of people believe them. The blame lies squarely with the politicians, pundits and lawyers who know fine well they are pushing a conspiracy, I really hope we'll see some of them in prison someday.

Is this somewhere we could see real repercussions for Barr and other members of the DOJ who acted like they were in a tin pot dictatorship? Or is it going to be 'lessons were learned'?

I fear that if Barr, Giuliani, etc are not punished for wrongdoing it will open the door for more egregious abuses by a future administration.

That and I just want to read the Mueller report unredacted, as it will be telling to see what they were frightened of making public.

Maybe Trump is promoting the story that he would be re-stated back into the WH by August to prevent Allen Weisselberg grassing up on him? i. e. Allen W, take one for Team Trump and I will issue you with a pardon once I get back into the WH.
