Is Byker banned sitewide or just the Trump thread?

In an attempt to get this back on track until Byker's return, interesting CNN piece on Doug Logan and Cyber Ninjas:

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/06/17/politics/arizon...

I particularly liked the bit on the company telephone system...

Please note that I copy/pasted the name "Doug Logan" from the CNN website. So if you don't hear from me for a while....

I wonder if it's just a single mod, as I am banned from the Johnson thread for absolutely spurious reasons.

It's an absolute joke.

MX5, one of the few knowledgable Covid posters is asking to have his account removed (I assume due to the bks being posted daily in the covid threads).

Byker getting kicked from this one.

It's trumps alternative facts winning out over real facts. A million blabbering idiots drowning out valuable content creators with inane false bks. The value of Pistonheads to me has just taken a hit - are there any alternative forums on the internet where the lunatics havn't taken control of the asylum?
Quite agree. Bloody ridiculous!

All it needs for Byker to have a thread to post in is for anyone, Byker included, to start a new thread titled whatever you want, perhaps 'Trump, his trials and lies' and then Byker can start posting on it - and then link to it from this thread.

It would be a different thread so shouldn't fall foul of the rules and regs and Mods - but should Byker be banned from that new thread you'll know one of the Mod team has got it in for him...

until the mods just close the thread with a snarky comment about there already being a trump thread

Thing is now is that this thread, which was one of the better threads on here, will now go rapidly downhill. The idiots will return and it will just turn into a slanging match as, let’s face it, no one will bother to try and replicate what Byker does.

And then let’s see how vigorously rule 9 is enforced (it’s pretty much ignored everywhere else rolleyes )
Rule 3 and 14 are also routinely not enforced.

According to a moderator a few minutes ago:-

"As with the thousands of other links which have been posted on PH there should be no problem posting a link to tweet which is worthy of discussion or is relevant to the thread. A short summary of what the link is pointing to generally acceptable.

If you post something which is deemed to not meet the rules then it will be deleted/edited and you will be warned.
Repeated breach of the rules will result in action beyond a warning, but you would have to choose to ignore warnings for this to happen"

So if Byker didn't receive warnings prior to his bans, then the mod(s) failed to do their job properly.

Another mod also said this when asked about Byker's ban:-
" can't comment on that at the moment, it's an ongoing discussion."

So perhaps common sense will return.

Hope this helps.
Given that Byker was apparently given zero warning before being banned, and has been posting in the (admirable) fashion that he has for years on the Trump threads without issue, it seems there is a huge gap between what some moderators are saying is policy, and what others are actually applying.

As I stated above, this absolutely stinks.

Edited: beaten to it...the comments still stand though.

Meh. Thread had run its course, I think. A new thread covering upcoming trails, etc. would be more useful.
There’s a 100% way of knowing when a thread has run its course. People stop reading it and people stop posting on it, and it gradually disappears.

Sad that a bunch of ignorant trolls who couldn’t argue against the facts that Byker was posting had to go crying to mummy.
Yes, but it’s pretty much only been Byker posting on it for a while now, plus reactions to what he’s posted…

Right, and?

We were all happy for it to continue in that way. In fact, that was exactly WHY it had continued to run for so long.

Thanks all for filling in the gaps re Byker. I’ve FOLLOWED many of his links to the sources linked and spent time on those sites. I would have thought the various links have helped drive traffic to the sources rather than infringing Copy-write etc??

I also think this thread will suffer without Byker’s obsessive posting brilliant sleuthing and posting. He has singlehandedly kept my interest and this thread has been my regular ‘go to’ for all things Trump.

There must be more to it??

Come on Mods/Kinky etc; care to reconsider??

Byker has been brilliant for this thread. He brings traffic onto the site as has been confirmed by some of the posts since his ban!

I was once banned for light-heartedly telling someone "Oh Do Grow Up" Forgot to put a smiley on it I suppose!

Oh dear, Byker and Farron Cousins with his Ring of Fire broadcasts on Youtube were my main source of what's been going on in the States.

It's worrying that a transparently biased attempt to keep the "stolen election" lie alive can continue for so long. As usual though, the Republicans have done it on the cheap and this stooge will be the fall man for trump. It's worrying to think what a competent attempt might have achieved, especially seeing Bykers excellent posts earlier this week about the corruption/perversion of process at the DOJ.

I'm fully expecting that after spending all the money this 'expert' will declare election fraud, with little real evidence, meanwhile a bunch of paperwork/ballots will have mysteriously got lost.

Mind you, it's not only American politics where people can be silenced for their views /sarcasm whistle

The problem is that 'those' posters always hide their transparently racist comments behind a veil of inferences and careful language. Those posters have learn't how to get their vile opinions across without saying anything quotably racist. There was one poster last week who seemed to spend every day starting a new anti muslim/BLM/woke thread.

Yep "racist logic" is pretty much "as long as I don't say 'the word' no-one can accuse me of racism" without realising that the English language relies heavily on context and if a sausage is out of place our brains automatically correct.

Ignorant of English, as they are ignorant of most things, they think that by substituting 'the word' for another then they can pretend their obviously racist statement isn't racist. The kind of person who refers to the people they don't like as "them" or "those people" oft followed up with "you know what 'they're' like". They know what they are writing, so do the rest of us but if you point it out they're all "I didn't say the word, your cancelling meeeeee" and play the victim card.

I'm sure we've all met the old racist boy at the pub, the one who hides in the corner and never smiles (as not to show the teeth he's missing). They're the online equivalent of him.

Anyway, enough of that. I hope that this mess with Byker gets sorted out... but I doubt it will. If he gets set up somewhere else be sure to let us know. I'm starting to think Mumsnet would be a less toxic place than here these days.
