Some rescuers are adrenaline junkies. The scarier the better. I chatted to some rescue helicopter pilots a few years back. Holy sh!t, complete banzai.
A good friend of mine flew urgent delivery of human organs. He said it was a gigantic buzz... regular death defying antics.
Where are these people going to get jobs if everyone acts in a prudent manner?
I suspect they would still likely always have their jobs, because bad situations still happen, no matter how careful people are, and of course no legislation whatsoever is ever going to be able to counter the rank stupidity that some seem determined to display. There is always a loon somewhere for them to be working with. A good friend of mine flew urgent delivery of human organs. He said it was a gigantic buzz... regular death defying antics.

Hmm - except they were experienced campers, just that one of them was suffering from acute chst pains and needed hospitalisation.
Not that it excuses any of their stupidity but what made you think they were "experienced" campers? Now clearly they could have been novices but I didn’t read it that way.

Absolute morons. Imagine taking your dog for a walk on a coastal path when there were probably dozens of far safer places to exercise themselves and their dog closer to home. Let's hope that the local constabulary pay them the home visit they so richly deserve, and throw the Covid rule book at them. Then perhaps they should get the RSPCA involved so that the poor dog can be rehomed with a responsible owner and the current owners should be thrown in jail (and the key thrown away) for recklessly endangering the safety not only of their pet, but of everyone in the rescue effort too...
The only real decision to be made here is whether to file this in 'Mind how you go' or 'Couldn't make it up'...
Is this a parody? The only real decision to be made here is whether to file this in 'Mind how you go' or 'Couldn't make it up'...
