From what I have read I believe that from 21st June (if all goes to plan) then all social distancing and other Covid "regulations" will be done and dusted.

I also heard someone from the government say, on national TV, that they hoped that wearing a mask on public transport would become the norm - presumably for ever.

I'd be interested in a non-representative sample of views from here - who's going to carry on wearing a mask in shops / pubs etc and who is going to ditch them ASAP.

What do we think companies will do after 21st June regarding insisting on masks - e.g. Easyjet, Supermarkets, Pubs - obviously this will have an impact on the question above.

If a pub insists on people wearing masks - do you think it will have more or fewer customers than a similar pub that doesn't enforce masks? (not 100% sure if that is correct English - more or less sounds like it should be correct, but less customers on it's own isn't right).

The furlough scheme being extended beyond that date, makes answering this a bit more difficult as there's clearly a conflict.

I don’t wear one now. I would like to believe they’ll be dropped in June but angry Karen will scream on Facebook about it so I think they’re here forever.

I have not met a single person who would wear a mask if they did not have to. Anybody who still wears one after they are not mandated will be treated the same way as somebody wearing sandals and socks. There may be a few businesses where they are insisted upon but I think they will quickly change their minds when their takings go through the floor.

This - not worn one throughout the pandemic, agree that most will ditch them as soon as (legally) able including the angry Karen who will blindly believe whatever they're told....there will still be some weirdos that continue however

I'm a tiny bit torn on this. As a confirmed misanthrope, I have quite enjoyed the last year of no socialisation, and the utter lack of the normal winter sniffles. Happy to wear a mask if I get to be a grumpy old sod for a bit longer biggrin

I do use masks as mandated at the moment but I will burn the masks that I reluctantly possess at the first opportunity and will boycott any businesses that require me to wear one as a condition of entry!

First off, its flops and socks.

Otherwise I agree. Get them burnt.

I’m not hopeful, judging by the the growing number of grim looking people shuffling along wearing one and solo drivers , I feel like blanking wearers ...pretending they don’t exist ....

Furlough extension makes perfect sense - the dates mentioned for relaxing restrictions are "best case" dates, so could well slip back.

I have been wearing one where required. I’ll continue to wear one where required. No more, no less. Doesn’t really bother me TBH, but then I suspect the question wasn’t aimed at me.

Some people will continue to wear them, particularly in confined areas. It will be interesting to see if shops/supermarkets remove all those protective screens or leave them up for ever more.

Didn't wear on the other day when I went out for a walk.

I'd forgotten how cold it was without it. Quite missed it. Worrying how quick it has become the norm

I may continue to wear one at work as I'm close to patients and haven't had a sniffle all winter. But no to social, shopping etc

Masks have become fashionable beyond reason. After the first lockdown a chap (whose description would fit a stereotype) was wearing a very well crafted mask, with a circular - hemmed - hole (about 10mm dia) slightly to one side of the middle of his mouth. This obviously still allowed him to smoke without having to remove the mask.

The green 'adihash' symbol was a nice touch too I thought.

I only reluctantly wear one in shops and similar to avoid confrontation. Certainly won't wear one after and will avoid places that insist on it. Given that it's the same unwashed mask I started wearing just under a year ago I'm guessing it's not doing much good anyway...

Really hope opticians drop the requirement before I next need new glasses. On monday the optician asked me how my long distance vision was through my new glasses I'd just put on. "Foggy" was the honest reply. I was in there 3 times as long as I needed to be just because it took so long to get the fit right on 4 pairs of glasses when the optician in unable to come near me. Madness.

They have not said that masks are coming off on the 21st June. Not a hope in hell that will happen.

Personally have only worn one when I absolutely had to such as an A&E visit and getting on a plane, but haven't worn one apart from that and nobody in the UK seems to care or say anything. Probably because I look more intimidating than I am in reality!

Unfortunately you only have to look around at the not insignificant number of people who wear masks while outside or in their car etc... to know this isn't true for the wider population.

I agree though any business which carries on trying to enforce it will soon have it quietly dropped.

Some odd people here seemingly virtuously stating they have never wore one - odd.

I’ll stop when I’m told to stop for sure, but I’ve understood the reasons and the benefits of wearing one. Older people and immunocompromised should consider continuing to wear them in busy areas, but completely optional.
