I wonder if they'll move the early May bank holiday to the Friday instead? I was looking forward to an extra bank holiday.

That’s what the discussions in the news are suggesting today with ministers saying it would be welcomed by the whole nation. Not me, planned a weekend away with the better half who’s a teacher so if they move the bank holiday we have to cancel our plans and I suspect there are thousands more in that position.

Add in a bank holiday by all means but don’t take away dates that are taken as guaranteed every year.

Normal criteria is 5 years+ service to military and frontline emergency services I believe.

King Charles doesn't want to be seen as part of the anti-growth coalition.

They messed around with the Jubilee earlier this year. Moved the late May holiday to the Thursday and added an extra one on the Friday.

I'd have left the Monday as it was and just had either the Friday as an extra one or the following Monday.

'The date will also be the fourth birthday of his grandson Archie, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan.'

Let's see what the Mail makes of that.

Living on a thin line innit

All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old,
But there's no England now.
All the wars that were won and lost
Somehow don't seem to matter very much anymore.
All the lies we were told,
All the lies of the people running round,
They're castles have burned.
Now I see change,
But inside we're the same as we ever were.

Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Living this way, each day is a dream.
What am I, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?

His Grand Uncle seems to have left a nice legacy behind also.

King Charles has been egged while visiting York to unveil a statue of the late Queen. One man has been arrested.

I think cricket might be too athletic for him.

Bit unfair really. The new King is putting himself out there amongst the adoring public in a way his late mother stopped doing years ago.
Dont know what these people want as apart from the pagentry there is little else to recommend this rainy little island.
Without them it would just be worship of some 'elected' brazilian style ballstonario tt.

The dignitary or whoever she was the was escorting King Charles did absolutely nothing to help him, instead of standing in front and shielding the King from any threat, she instead stood back. Granted it probably isn't her job, but you'll think with her clearly being an official she would have done something. Seemed to take a while for the bloke to come over and shield Charles, but at least he was effective. He looked a bit too old to be police protection team.
