None of the current squabble is of any benefit to the Irish. If that's truly who he wishes to support, he should tell the EU to get their house in order and insist both parties get to the table to negotiate in good faith.

It's also worth noting that Biden's comments are as much for his home audience as for anyone in Europe. Self image is very important here.

As an aside, in a previous life I used to tend to a cemetary somewhere in middle England. At least once a month, I'd get some random American turning up asking to find the grave of their distant ancestor. Usually they were directly related to Shakespeare. Apparently.
And bumbling Bozza isn’t utterly obsessed with his own self image and popularity?
Oh do keep up. Self image of the Americans as the "world police" and protector of western democracy. rolleyes

About as much to do with this particular discussion as what Kanye West had for breakfast.

Or are you suggesting Boris is going to send an aircraft carrier to Ireland?

When it comes down to the nub they will back the Irish and have been consistent is stating such since before he became president.
No, most people care about facts. But the giggles you and some of the others give are comedy gold.

Biden administration has been at BOTH the UK and EU on this. NOT because they really care, but it affects THEIR home interests (and Biden's feet are at the fireplace)...

If you think the EU has some stronger pimp hand here, you should read what the Biden administration is saying about the EU's China and Russian reproachment. The EU being quality supporters of human rights. Oh, sorry they are not.

The US doesn't give 2 figs about anyone, except their own interest. If you think Biden and the democrats are some right on PC unicorns, you are even more deluded. 22 wars in 100 years they declared? Jog On.

The Ireland situation is a car crash because of BOTH the UK and EU. The EU thinks it can leverage us due to size, but that has never worked with the UK. We are total bandits, pirates, fking ninjas when it comes to getting out of a hole. I actually think we ARE probably being a bit dickish on NI, but the epic failure of EU confirmation bias (bit like you) to read the UK (and its strengths) is kinda funny. Or are you the 220lb ripped PH director who thinks he can negotiate with Francis Begbie? If the US gave us a ticking off, it's meaningless given what they need elsewhere. Politically - BJ's position IS stronger than Biden's right now; regardless of the st that UU and some of the wally group suggest.

Biden would have more credibility if he came over and lambasted our Football team for cultural appropriation on "Taking the Knee". It has no context outside the US given its significance to BOTH the Star Spangled Banner and Military service. That would cause heads to explode, I'd applaud that.
hehe

There are some turns of phrasing there I'm stealing and claiming as my own.

Did that sleaze bag Hancock really claim the majority of the care home deaths were due to the staff bringing in Covid and the NHS sending back positive patients was responsible for only 1.6% of deaths?

To vaccinate everyone on the planet by the end of next year is a really big ask.
A lot of countries are going to have to step up to the plate.

And do the pharma companies have the means to manufacture 11 Billion vaccines within 18 months?

I'd suggest they will have...

The 'game' has changed massively thanks to the pandemic. How long did the polio vaccination programme take?

I could actually see some changes to IP/patents for vaccines moving forward. A central body that effectively buys them from the developer so that a whole host of global producers can produce them as 'generics'.

Well said - you're relating it to the real world, not just viewing it through a political prism

Whilst in part I agree, I'm really not convinced it will get anywhere. Nice platitudes from Biden etc, but I'll be gobsmacked if she stands trial here, and doubly so if the family are satisfied with the outcome.

This feels like it is giving them extended hope (underscored by their lawyer) when there really is none.

From what one of the family said on radio this morning was that the first they knew of boris raising it was being contacted by the press for comment.

It also shows for once that our establishment is not giving up on seeking justice

Well, they do have American planes (and we will be reliant on the US for upgrades as the systems are upgraded, probably at huge cost).

Nice to see Biden stating Johnson "married way above his station" yesterday (although he did state he also married above his station).

Perhaps Joe originally thought Boris had brought his daughter along ... I'm sure this sort of stuff has been mentioned before. Is Joe a PH'er ?

Boris going on about building back greener, equally, fairer and "in a more gender-neutral and perhaps a more feminine way.”

His gentle brand of slovenly ignorance seemed to work when his buddy trump was around.
Now he just looks a bit silly and nothing is actually getting done. Apparently the whole purpose of life on earth is to administer a vaccine really well
and open the borders to whichever stupid nation comes up with a new variant.
Its so pathetic. He would have instantly shot back an insult after the USA rebuke of his cack efforts but has had to bite his lip like the little bh he is lol.
Not when he is polling 46% and is 16% ahead of Labour in the polls that is for sure. If he wins in Batley and Spen on top of unlocking on the 21st he will be untouchable. So expect an avalanche of ste from the press and the Grrrr Boris crowd for the next couple of weeks.
Labour are so bad right now you could put a blue ribbon on a literal turd and it’d still be 16% ahead in the polls.

In fact given the options, I’m sure an actual turd would be leading comfortably.

Nice to see build back better Boris spouting his progressive word salad yesterday. Gender neutral, feminine and green. Even his Mrs was in a rented dress.

The epitome of the great reset couple.
