The outrage is because of the hypocrisy. Johnson set these rules and is apparently refusing to lift them, despite us all being good boys and girls and doing exactly what we were told for the last 6 months.

There is no excuse for this rank hypocrisy and anyone looking at the images from this event needs to seriously consider why the hell they are complying with anything this Govt tells them to do.
So politicians are displaying rank hypocrisy. That's not exactly a shock is it?

And last evening they behaved pretty much like how everyone in the country eating outside etc was doing. If they were all following supposed social distancing restrictions there would equally be outrage that they were attempting to promote the new normal world of eternal social distancing etc.

As for as faux outrage is concerned, i do think there are better things to throw a strop about than the g7 nonsense.
You are ignoring the simple fact that we were expecting an announcement that these restrictions, the ones that we agree are largely being ignored, are due to be lifted in 1 week.

But yesterday, our glorious PM, let it be known that he is likely to announce that we will instead keep the restrictions for another month.

After making this pronouncement he went on to blatantly ignore them.

By the way, they are not behaving like everyone else. No one in this country is able to organise an event like that. No venue will take the booking. Not even AFTER 21st June

Kids up and down the country who had their exams disrupted again this year were looking forward hopefully to proms. University students who have been educated through zoom for a year and banned from socialising were hoping that they might be able to have a summer ball.

All of that will now be cancelled because it’s too dangerous. And on the day that this stupid mop headed bag of blubber decided to piss all over the mental health of the nation, the fat odious oaf then went to to host a drinks reception where he flagrantly broke all of the rules he is using to once again destroy lives and businesses.

These kids won’t get another chance. Just like the ones that were thrown under the bus last year. That’s it.

I assure you this is not faux outrage.

'could'
'potentially'
'stressed'

Sorry if that combination of words doesn't seem particularly scary to me.

Especially when the NHS is always complaining about being 'stressed', and inevitably it's actually the result of its own organisational failure.

I've known three apparently healthy active people drop dead from sudden cardiac events at about the same age he is, so it doesn't seem unlikely to me it was just a lurking issue.

Though his cardiologist must have been doing a st job given the level of health screening he'll have had for over 10 years actively looking for any signs of this.

Why wouldn't they all be vaccinated though? Are we sticking with the age excuse?

Best post in a long while. I have a 20 year old that won’t get two years of his life back and admitted he has “down” days. Just finished second year at Uni and looking forward to end of year celebrations including the summer ball which he has help organise.
I keep saying to my mum and dad who are in their 80s and keep hiding away that I’m not bothered about them- it my two sons and the young that have been hardest hit.

I decided this week to stop wearing a mask anywhere and in a few settings other adults removed theirs when they saw me. It's spreading like a virus. I find those from Eastern Europe are the least compliant.

They really will keep this going for as long as they want now wont they?

Scary <insert country / region name here> variant. Theres probably another couple of iterations there they can scare people with.

Third wave - being talked about already. Must be a cert for October time to "protect the NHS".

Then there must be a new / better required vaccine that we all will need to take, so we can just go round another full loop of that.

Yep - I own an event company that is reliant on gatherings greater than 30 (always outdoors, but the guests spend a lot of time indoors). I have not had a job in over a year. I have bookings for June 24th, and July that I have to wait until tomorrow to find out if (that) I'll have to cancel them, again, or, I know, it won't happen, they give the green light and then I've got a few days to prepare. It's madenning.

All the while you are all paying me not to work with grants. (just for those that think "I'm alright jack", or "it doesn't affect me", or "It's just another month, it isn't THAT bad" - YOU and your children will be paying to support my business and countless others (plus all the fraud) for the rest of your lives, getting worse every single day we are blanket-refused permission to hold events with more than a handful of people.

Again it is not a black and white situation that something works or doesnt.... The vaccines do work, as in they reduce the effect of the virus on an individual, however it takes time from vaccination to having the full effect of the vaccine.

As the effects of the vaccine reduces the impact on the person its not having the same effect on 100% of the people vaccinated.

So the people that are still supscetible to the virus plus those not yet vaccinated... and those that cant be vaccintated or those that refused... add that into the mix and you get a number of people that could potentially result in the NHS being stressed.
Rubbish

One of the biggest successes of Project Fear is getting the public to believe COVID-19 is totally indiscriminate, when in fact the total and absolute opposite is fact

The virus must have ripped through the travelling community as they seem equally less compliant.

Are there any ONS figures?

That is nowhere near good enough. If you’re going to impose restrictions on the lives and livelihoods of tens of millions of people, you have a very high bar to jump. NHS might, possibly, could, be “stressed” is miles and miles off being sufficient.

Please also recall that avoiding the NHS “feeling a bit stressed” is not even why we did the very first lockdown last year - that was because if they get swamped too much then they can’t treat everyone and people who might have otherwise been saved, may have died.

Can you truly not see how far away from those days we are now?
Do you not see the precedent being set if we continue restrictions of freedoms due to ifs and maybes? frown

Just have a national vote. 2 possible answers.

Do you want to continue with potential lockdowns, restrictions, masks

Yes
No

If no everything is dropped but also governments are not held responsible for any death increases.

I suspect the above reason is why they keep going with it now.
