I bought an 07 V8 vantage manual

I wanted to build a different type of car and restore it

The plan: build a v8 vantage that handles better, stops better and sounds loud with a low stance and sensible build price

What’s been done:

18” GT4 magnesium O.Z. Wheels
10j front 11j rear
265 35 18 ad08rs
285 35 18 NS2R’s
I wanted semi slick options and these work well (I wanted AR1’s but finding the correct size was impossible)

Coilovers suspension with adjustable dampers and ride height including new top mounts

New track rod ends

New thermostat

Oil change

GT4 lightweight 6 pot brembo callipers with custom braided hoses and Dot5
Floating 380mm discs and YSL1 pads, trust me, the stopping power is incredible

Less aggressive but similar geo set up to a GT4

Tinted windows removed

Back box delete with GT4 straight through pipes

Genuine GT4 carbon fibre side skirts (not fitted yet)

Still to come:

Front end respray to freshen it up

Further boring servicing work

Cobra nogaro seats

Aston instillations Apple car play mod

Possibly a front splitter (purely for looks)

So yes there are numerous mods that can be done guided by many such as bamford rose and others but these are the modifications I wanted to go for. It’s not a daily so I’m not worried about it’s being quiet or comfortable etc

Hopefully I’ll have some more photos and updates for you soon

Love seeing people do sensible performance based upgrades to cars - well done!

Why not go large on the brakes, get Surface Transforms to provide their CCM kit? They are supposed to be providing brakes for Valkyrie, so they know their stuff...

What's the weight difference between cast magnesium and a good forged aluminium wheel in that size?

Good project! Please keep us updated: -)

Nice project! There is a nice Scottish chap in Germany who is a dragon in preparing track-focused Vantages:

Cheers guys, yeah I spoke to a Alister a few times and I’m hoping to get over to him in September. Really helpful guy and I would of had him do a build for me if it wasn’t for distance.

Haven’t heard of CCM kits but I had to have a smaller calliper to fit the 18” wheels, so it made sense to run GT4 Brakes with the wheels.

Weight wise, if I’m honest not huge difference (I haven’t weighed them) but semi slicks always weigh a little more

I’d personally rather a forged wheel as it’s easier to change colours etc, as mag is a nightmare to refinish

So after a few runs out in the car I have realised the floating discs are maybe a tad too hardcore for the road. They’re very noisy and I’m looking for a two piece disc (springs and shimmed bells) basically a road going two piece disc, anyone on here know of any?

Also it’s going in for paintwork so I stripped the front arch liners (so the body shop can access the side skirts easier) whilst I was there I did the door struts and air filters.

Cleaned the arch liners properly with TFR, tar and glue remover and I’ll dress them in Autoglym trim restorer once the car is painted

I managed the remove all the old black paint from the grills to return to standard, I will replace the nose cone decal with a less intrusive mid metallic grey one as I feel I’ll probably change the wheel colour to grey too.

I whacked my splitter trying to get into a friends driveway and broke half of it so I’ve ordered a maxton designs one (I’m sure many will cringe at that) but I felt it was a fairly unobtrusive looking one for now

Off it goes for the stone chips to be addressed. Both sides and the front end are being done

Thanks for the recommendations

Great looking build! Great to see the progress!

For the discs I have a solution and have a few other parts that might solve your issues and may compliment what's there. Give me a call again and we can go through it!

Thanks Alister, I’ll call you soon to chat about the car (I’m hoping to get across for the DN day at the end of august

Also I need wheel centre caps as it’s unsightly if I’m honest, I tried 60mm caps with a 56mm inner but they just fell straight through 😂

The car is due back from the body shop this week

Genuine GT4 side skirts and maxton splitter fitted which I’m very pleased with actually. The fit is spot on and really give the standard bumper the look it was missing.

Looks lovely, although i suspect its too low to be optimum for handling. Have you had it cornerweighted etc?

Tyres wise I usually fit cup2 or direzzas but looking at trying the yokohama 52's as theres a good selection of sizes.

Thanks Alister, it has been corner weighted however, me being me I wanted it low. I would tend to agree it’s probably too low for ultimate performance. I want to raise it but I’d also rather run a 265 40 18 up the front rather than a 35 which will decrease the wheel arch gap too.

I’m awaiting an NS2R in that size as at the moment they only make a 35 or 45
