Government are too weak and lack conviction. They will capitulate to the hysteria as is their way.

90% chance it won't, and even if it does, there'll be caveats and dilutions.

I'm struggling to see how there won't be a rebellion if lockdown isn't lifted for the majority. I can see strong recommendations to continue to wear masks in crowded indoor locations (eg public transport) and I can see the 2-metre recommendation staying.

However, as long as diagnosis of the rising Delta variant isn't being accompanied by rising hospital admissions, I don't see that there's a justfication for continuing with the current restrictions.

TL:DR - lockdown lifted, but with some ongoing measures to help control inection rates

If it were to go ahead they would already need to be actively working to defuse the fear instilled in people over the last year. They are not, so I conclude they are not particularly sure yet. It needs bravery to proceed, this government does not have it.

If anything does change it’ll be a downgrading of restrictions from law to guidance, which is progress, but practically will mean little difference as already people don’t understand what’s law and what’s not. This is also the most cowardly option, and thus what I believe this government would go for.

We have already had the suggestions that its not nailed on, this is usually followed by the actual anouncement.

A middle ground I suspect so both sides are happy.
They are too weak to go all the way and risk criticism from Twitter if the numbers go the wrong way.
Praying masks go personally.

No chance. I have an awful feeling that we will actually end up with more restritions than we have today come June 21st.

Its completely safe for the G7 to meet without any quarantine/isolation for the the various big wigs their security teams and who knows how many people flying in with them. They're mixing with 6000 of our own police from all over the country. Any upsurge in 2 weeks will be due to that meeting, not anything us normal people are doing.
If people getting hospitalised and dying aren't vaccinated or everyone else even noticing they have it before getting an asymptomatic test then stuff the restrictions.

I suspect pushed out by at least a couple of weeks. Probably a month.

Given the sharp rise in cases I don't think it will happen.
As Boris says, they are lead by the data.

I think they'll delay it a couple of weeks just to flatten the curve.

and save the NHS no doubt smile

I think you need to ask what a coward would do and then that will be the answer. Boris doesn't have the spine to withstand the zero covid loons, no matter how nonsensical their claims.

I mean, it's going to be delayed, isn't it. They've already indulged in the Blairite dripfeeding of the concept of a delay for two weeks now.

I realised last week that the covid test packs I have have 7 tests each in them. By taking a test every damn day it will push up the negative test results, reducing the apparent percentage of positives. This will make the data look better, everyone should do the same.

If they were able to cancel Christmas, they’ll be able to cancel the 21st June.

Even if restrictions were lifted on the 21st, I would expect them to come up with a new set of rules or restrictions a few days later, just to satisfy the government requirement to pull a U-turn at every opportunity.

As it is, I fully expect tt Hancock to deliver a sweaty message of misery next week, claiming variants of concern, wanting to protect the vaccinated (doesn’t the vaccine do that, not government?) and other things to justify his presence in office.
