Isn't allowing their pupils to recognise the head students sex.

Is this one of those things that doesn't make much sense, but in reality also doesn't do much (any) harm. It's in the paper just for the people who secretly love a dose of anger with their cornflakes.

Reading the article in The Times it sounds like the role used to be called Head of School then changed to Head Girl and is now changing back to Head of School because it's usually one of the older pupils so Head Girl might sound a bit weird.

Doesn't sound quite as reactionary as the headline makes it sound.

Head Boy/Head Girl have been around decades - and aren't weird at all.

When fewer than 1% of the school don't identify as girls/female, it seems a tad kneejerk. Seems at least some of the staff agree.

I went to school just across the river. SPSG was always a target rich environment. Helped by us spanking the Boy's school at rowing repetitively.

Like I said look beyond the headlines.

From our very foundation in 1904 and for decades afterwards, the senior student was called ‘Head of the School’, so in making the change, we are confirming, not denying, our ethos and traditions.

I doubt they had woke or non-binary or whatever people want to try and blame it on now to worry about back then.

I read that some of the older girls identify as women.

I'm not blaming it on woke, or anything.

Wonder what the title has been for the majority of their existence?

The staff make good points.

Strangely my wife who could be considered a woman will refer to herself “getting together with the girls”

It's supposedly about the Quality Street Gang, if you didn't know

“ Around seven of the school’s 778 pupils identify at non-binary, which means they don’t feel comfortable being referred to as male or female.

The school said the main reason for changing the title of head girl was because many senior pupils feel they are young women, but admitted the “binary connotations” were a factor in the decision.”

The more sensible approach would be to make it an option that if someone NB was in the role they could have an ungendered title.

Middle aged , late transitioning males aka transwomen going into a girls school to give “safeguarding” advice to teenage girls who may be wanting to transition for very different reasons?

Not creepy in the slightest

Is it creepy when middle aged police officers come in to talk about personal safety?

When middle aged teachers or health visitors come in to talk about sexual health?

What make’s this different?

The people you mention have relevant experience in their professions.

Transitioning from male to female as a middle-aged adult is a very specific experience- why should that automatically make you an expert in safeguarding teenage girls who may be wanting to transition for very different reasons?

This individual believes there is 150+ genders for example lol. How validating it all must be for him.

I’m loathe to engage anymore with you as you clearly have an issue with trans people but how do you know that the person doing the talk doesn’t have any expertise in the field that they’re talking about?

Yeah, I’m not engaging anymore. I can see what you’re trying to insinuate and I don’t want to be a part of it.

Why not just come out and say why you think she would want to go into the school rather than cloaking it in question form?
I am waiting to see what their reply is to the Times reporter , tho they are strangely quiet after being discovered.
