Just about to pick up a new Sprite Challenger, first van for 25 years. I'll need to insure it. Any recommendations?

I went with ripe, £173 v LV’s £490... same cover but slightly higher excess.

Our m/h is insured with Comfort. Best deal I could find and their cover is 1st class.

Same here. I found that the discount on insurance and pitch fees on a couple of trips more than offset the membership fee, and really enjoy their monthly magazine.

Obviously I hide it inside a copy of Razzle to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in public reading a caravan magazine! hehe

That made me check my premium with LV! My LV renewal is £131.

I was surprised it was so high, we have two cars with them as well.I guess it’s because we are new to the caravan world, not that it explains why ripe were so cheap.

Mine is new for old with the Caravan Club, £290ish but it has to be in gold secure storage which is £1200 a year and we had to have a tracker on it this year which was another £500 with a 5 year subscription.

I used Adrian Flux. It was much cheaper than insuring it through the Caravan & Campervan Club.

You don’t “have” to have those with CC insurance they just offer a discount if you do

Ripe seem to be under cutting everyone ATM, I think there is a reason they are so cheap & when people start making claims & have to deal with the firm of loss adjusters they use all will become clear
Look for reviews of The Davies Group

I'd like to go back to Comfort but their prices are higher than others for me these days. I went with AIB last year but after doing less than 2k miles in the last year they tried to put their price up buy £120 for this years renewal! Comfort were 50 quid more than that.

I went with Safeguard in the end who came in £16 LESS than I paid in 2020/2!! Like for like cover too with full recovery etc or UK and EU.

I read about insurance premiums starting to come down so its worth shopping around.

They won’t give me new for old without the ‘away from home’ gold storage, tracker, nemesis and hitch lock.

I have new for old on a 3 month old Buccaneer, & have always insured with The Caravan & Motorhome club as sometimes I store at home & sometimes at work, (a lot of insurance don’t like this)
I always tell them this & their response is “as long as it’s stored in the UK you are covered”
Same with the tracker it’s just an option when you do the quote

Mine’s with the camping and caravan club, not sure if that’s the difference?

When I renewed, on the phone, they told me that they wouldn’t insure it without a tracker. Also the tracker had to be a very specific one, not just the first one I find on Google.

I also seem to remember they wanted an Alko wheel lock, but they don’t fit my Adria, maybe that was when they insisted on the tracker.

The C&CC wouldn't insure my MH without a tracker as it was worth over 50k. This, despite it having a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser and EVERY other insurer I tried happily providing a quote (including the C&MC).
