Of thr SNP and the greens can't form a majority and the next set of elections does the Scottish Parliament become unworkable because I can't see the tory libs or Labour working with them. But likely they wouldn't be 1st choice to form a government
No - Salmond ran a minority government in 2007 with the Green’s agreement, not a formal coalition despite only having 1 more seat than Labour. In 2016 Sturgeon had a minority and largely governed alone, albeit she was very close to a majority.
Yousaf’s situation is fairly close to Sturgeon in 2016, so he could probably function without the Greens, especially if he was sensible (big if) and tried to get Lib Dem support for individual bills.

TBH, I wondered at the time why Sturgeon was so keen on a formal coalition with the Greens in 2021. She’d probably have been able to get the majority of her legislation through (including GRR) either without them or on a confidence and supply basis. Overall there didn’t seem to be much upside for the SNP from having Harvie and Slater in cabinet.

This has all worked very well for Forbes. She got a huge boost to her national profile, and she'll be forever on record making clear to Humza that he's a total fkwit.
yes

Two brilliant articles - the first laying out how Humza has behaved exactly as the political dunce everyone knows he is straight-out of the traps as FM...

Humza is already living down to expectations.

The second goes a long way to explaining why we are unlikely to see Strocky or Deadslow crack a light ever again in this thread...

SNP is exposed as half full of Tartan Tories.

The notion that the SNP are the 'true opposition' to the the bastitrt Toarees was shot to pieces by the leadership election, where nearly half the votes cast were for a conservative (small 'c') leader and two out of the three candidates rejected political progressivism.

Finally, this speech from Scottish Labours Shadow Education spokesman demonstrates how the SNP have been found out trying to play both sides and ultimately satisfying neither....

Offered a big demotion. Looks like Useless likes his revenge served hot
Possibly a tactical mistake. In govt she would be bound by cabinet collective responsibility. On the back benches she is free to criticise the govt. I don't think she is one of the "wheesht for indy" crowd.
We now need to put the fighting aside and unify. To start that I'm going to get rid of my main rival. This will potentially disillusion almost 50% of my party who voted for her.

Excellent choice there, stellar.

1. Shona Robison, the new Deputy First Minister, will take on the Finance portfolio, including responsibility for the Scottish Budget

2. Michael Matheson becomes the Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care

3. Jenny Gilruth joins Cabinet for the first time as Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills

4. Màiri McAllan joins Cabinet for the first time as Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Just Transition

5. Neil Gray joins Cabinet for the first time as Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy

6. Mairi Gougeon remains Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands

7. Angus Robertson remains Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture

8. Shirley-Anne Somerville becomes Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice

9. Angela Constance returns to Cabinet as the new Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs

I don't know what all the doom and gloom is about now that the new leader has appointed these wonderful, trustworthy people, dedicated to providing Scots with a progressive future e.g. DRS saving the planet: lots more cash to ensure shipbuilding on the Clyde never finishes and so on and education and the NHS will become the best in the world. And not forgetting Independence, we must not forget the struggle for freedom.

Yes, we Scots are so lucky to have these talented representatives. Burger, Strocky and deadslow must be so proud. Wonderful times ahead.

Or ferries? Maybe they're angling for "cant be our fault if we don't put anyone in charge of it". hehe
Though never mind about roads, trains, buses, ferries etc, we've now got a "net zero and just transition" secretary as well as a "social justice" secretary. What more could you ask for?

Maybe there was going to be a Minister for Transport?

Everyone turned it down. Talk about being set up for failure.

It was Transport and Fiscal Probity. Couldn't find anyone.

For goodness sake, they are not "roads" nowadays, they are "transport corridors" - get with the programme!

As above it is Gougeon I feel sorry for - a job they couldn't give away. "Land Reform" I guess is a piece of piss, but "Rural Affairs and Islands" with the current transport issues is like being put in charge of European relations just after Brexit.

Oh come on board V8. We are a progressive party these days. Modernisation is key. No more of the old school politics is our vision for all Scots.

Excuse me a sec............................................................................................ Sorry about that. Humza just called. He wants me to edit some speeches for him. When I told him I'd never done this before, he said, no problem Viper, I've never done this job before and none of the cabinet have either.

First thing I noticed when I read this list was that he had, with no irony whatsoever, given someone the job title of literally fixing his mess. This is the post-truth world we now live in.
