What a load of bks; that tells us nothing about who decided that the worst bidder should get the job or why such a titanically stupid decision was made.

Scottish government running scotrail going well.
1 derailment and now not enough staff and they have only been in charge a month.

Not to defend the absolute shower that are in charge, but both of these have nothing to do with the recent nationalisation of Scotrail. Network Rail maintain the rail infrastructure, not Scotgov, and the driver training pipeline was suffering delays throughout the pandemic when Scotrail was still in Abellio's hands - they can't magic up drivers instantly, even external hires would take time to do route familiarisation, etc.

Can't help but think that the SNP propaganda team are already in situ though - services being cut "to improve overall reliability" rolleyes

So, Swinney approved the ferries...

It's been pointed out how convenient it is that Sturgeon is off hobnobbing in the States while this email is "discovered."

Also,

What's the thinking north of the border on this:

https://depositreturnscheme.zerowastescotland.org....

?

I was listening to Outdoors Scotland (I think it was...) and apparently there's talk of getting couriers to come to your house to collect the empties!!! Just to stop the pesky Englanders stock-piling their empties to nip over to Gretna and deposit them at 20 pence a pop!!

Like I said, some kind of wall...

It's cretinously stupid to think that an active contract of such a scale would not have hard paper copies, signed in triplicate, and safely stored away in the vaults of the Civil Service at Holyrood. Absolutely unthinkable that this should be the case. The documents will exist, and on them will be the signature(s) of whomever approved this hilariously bad deal. If these documents have been lost (unlikely) or destroyed (much more likely with the SNP in charge) then that is an act of illegality and an investigation should be put in place immediately by Sturgeon's State Police Farce Force.

I won't be holding my breath on that one. It also begs the question - why are the Scottish media not all over this like a cheap suit??

The contract isn't the issue and in any event it was between CMAL and Fergusons. Even the paperwork between the Scottish Government and CMAL isn't that relevant as it was all signed by Derek Mackay as a formality.

https://www.gov.scot/publications/ferguson-marine-...

The key issues are the original ministerial decision in August made by John Swinney and then approving the final contract in spite of the lack of financial guarantees.

The SNP are being highly selective in what they release so as to distract attention from the real issue.

Oh dear!.... Huge blunder as SNP Government's 'missing' ferries document can be unredacted!. The lies are surfacing thick and fast now,
the big question is who is actually going to bring them to book.

'The Scottish Daily Express has seen the redactions that become apparent when the text of the October 9, 2015 email chain is copied and pasted into a Word document. '

"DC Butler told jurors in evidence that McGarry was distressed, angry and refused to remain still when he attempted to read the search warrant.

He said: “She then took refuge in the bathroom and I had to read the terms of the warrant through the bathroom door.”

And this was one of our elected representatives? Would I be wrong if I was to start thinking a huge number of poor quality MSPs got elected because they wore the correct label. Not qualified to manage a corner shop.

Ah yes, The Shriek stood for just about every party available before finally getting elected for The Cult, as she wore the correct colour rosette, and the cult faithful would have elected a turnip (see Drew Hendry / Ian Blackford) with an SNP badge. She followed her best pal when he established Alba, a retirement home for rejected MPs and MSPs.

They have truly fcensoredd it with this one. Swinney currently being ripped to shreds in Holyrood and sh't hitting the fan all over the place.

I can just see opposition staffers furiously copy/pasting every redacted electronic document they have received into word as we speak.

Wouldn't like to be in the shoes of those involved in this epic scandal. This bombshell today among other things will now leave them open to action
by the yards who were unsuccessful. Popcorn time folks, better make it a big bag. hehe

Forgive my cynicism, but this won't make the slightest difference. It would require the media to be onside and willing to undertake a genuine investigation into all that has gone on, to hold the party of government to account, and to publicise the inconvenient truths that would no doubt be revealed.

There has to be a tipping-point for this. It is now in the public domain that the Scottish Government redacted evidence that they were acting unlawfully in this instance. This calls into question all other redactions.

How long before full disclosure on the Salmond case....?

I was going to mention the Salmond case and the sheer volume of redactions there, that were summarily waved through by a disinterested media. Some of the material there, which was available in the public domain after the merest scintilla of investigative journalism, had the potential to be incendiary and career ending, yet the assembled journalists preferred to continue to smear an innocent(*) man who was giving evidence as a member of the public who just happened to have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Holyrood administration.

(*) in the eyes of a judge and jury.
