In Fortress New Zealand, faith in Saint Jacinda is starting to fade

According to the latest announcement, anyone known to be infected will now be required to lock themselves in their homes for 14 days. That is only the start of it, however, because anyone else in the house automatically becomes classified as a close contact; they must also now ‘isolate’ for the same period and then for an additional ten days as well. And if it so happens in those last ten days that one of the previously un-infected close contacts in your house tests positive then the whole process starts all over again. If Omicron spreads as quickly here as it has in other countries, it seems possible that at some point nearly every household will be forced into isolation.

Fortress New Zealand has also just closed its borders completely to outsiders. Tourists, visa-holders and citizens abroad will no longer be able to access the mandatory managed isolation and quarantine facilities that newcomers are required to pass through in order to visit. No date has been given for when the old system will resume.

...

...at a time when many countries are doing all they can to return to some kind of normality, this latest swerve comes as a shock. What makes Ardern’s Omicron announcement even madder is that 77 per cent of Kiwis are fully vaccinated...
So 24 days straight locked in your home if someone else in the house tests positive, and then if you test positive yourself (which you very likely will, because Omicron) the 24 day clock restarts.

So almost 7 weeks continuous house arrest for everyone in the house if just one person tests +ve and then someone else tests +ve on the last day?

And I presume it could continue repeatedly?

WTF?

And there are still people hysterical over our high cases numbers, and in places like NZ, locking down over EIGHT cases

It's no wonder some people try to explain this reaction on something other than government concerns over public health.
I still can't help feeling this pandemic has been such a clusterfk due to the number of petty bureaucrats and middle managers who have been given power beyond their wildest dreams, and now they have it, they aren't giving it up without a fight.

My exhibits to back up my case - N Sturgeon and M Drakeford.
Yep, and it seems the smaller and the less important the Government passing the rules, the harsher they seem to be and the harder they seem to find it to give them up.

My exhibits to back up my case....., yeah see above smile

@50 mins 30 seconds, a listener emails with an identical situation.

"Essential care giver status" is an exemption you may should be able to claim
Thats brilliant, thank you

Will email care home and request visit on that basis and see what they say
Thank you too for this

I'm going to use the info and request a visit based on ECG status

Fantastic info

refer them to the Gov. guidance here... https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/visitin...

in particular this...
guidance said:
every care home resident should be supported to have an identified essential care giver (in addition to their named visitors) who may visit the home to offer companionship or help with care needs – essential care givers should be able to visit inside the care home even during periods of outbreak affecting the care home

He's apparently discovered empathy over in the thread about the tragic news of two Dorset teenagers taking their own life.

The change in posting style / position is most weird.

If viewing on a mobile set it to inconito mode - seems to work ok after that.
Had the same using Brave browser.

Opened in new private window or new private window with tor and it's fine.

Does anyone know what the pre arrival back in the UK test is? Just a lateral flow? How do you prove it's negative?

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from...

The Gov said:
show proof of a negative COVID-19 test – test to be taken in the 2 days before you travel to England
It seems to be a standard rapid test right?

The PCR when back, is just a day 2 test after the 11th?

Asking for a friend to of course.

I am cautiously hopeful that 'the narrative' is unwinding - at least here in the UK.

Although I have also seen it postulated that 'they' are letting us 'have a breather' and entrenching their powers/tools before kicking things off again - some of the Tin Foil stuff talks about 2025 being sort of an end date, so perhaps even more interesting times await...

It's time for some Tin Foil - please scroll on by as per your preference.

I think V1nce posted a link to the 'crazy blood clots found during autopsies' article.

There now appears to be some (horrific!) pictures circulating of said clots that are claimed to be from embalmers, and also some equally grim pictures of what are claimed to be lung clots - the common factor apparently being some sort of white structure in them.

Safe for Work but click at your own peril... lol:

Blood clot pictures:

Lung clot pictures:

Could all be total nonsense, of course tongue out and (for example) I'm unclear on how a patient would be getting pictures of their lung clots post-operation (unless medical records are less tightly controlled in places other than the UK?) but perhaps breakdown of 'the narrative' will allow such instances (if they are genuine) to come more to the fore instead of being made to 'disappear' like they have done over the past two years.

I was aware that Canada, and specifically Trudeau, is treading a very unsettling line WRT those that are unvaccinated. However, I find this - if true - deeply disturbing:-
