According to something I read last night, the same car had an NLAW in the back too, discovered by the Russian police. This does rather illustrate the next decades problem - really advanced weaponry is going to leak out of this conflict in large quantities. If you think that 50% of the Russian troops are criminal enough to sell anything they capture to the highest bidder, that’s a lot of kit. And inevitably some will “go missing” on the Ukrainian side.

If the terrorists get their hands on these, it will be impossible protect any high value target in public. Untraceable, line of sight, can kill a tank in 4km, what’s the point of an armoured car these days?
It's a real problem and I'd be more concerned about aircraft.

One more reason why Putin is a prick.

I wouldnt get too fixated on one Russian speaking something that looked pretty much like the truth, stopped clock is right twice a day etc etc, it could be them dropping a hint that its all gone to ratst to get the population ready for a climb down.

Or, could be like in a piece of music where the tempo and volume drops, before crashing back in with more noise and fury.

And tomorrow Duke Nukem is back on the telly showing us what will happen to Barrow in Furness Bus Depot.

It is huge though, would be like someone on The One Show over here going "Putin had it right, Ukraine was full of Nazis and needed sorting out, perfectly reasonable they should stat a massive, bloody war and do loads of war crimes, I particularly enjoy school bombings myself"

That sums the Russians up neatly - something of NO military or strategic value at all to the conflict, but they destroy it anyway out of spite/malice/immature destructive rage.

I really hope they're shunned from global society for a generation while they work out how to become even partially civilised...

Another feature of Russian propaganda is they don't deny the obvious. Maybe this is part of that.

It's clear from Telegram everyone knows this is a disaster.

Of course the conclusion they draw never seems to be "give up". Maybe that realization comes later.

Duke Nukem rofl

I do wonder, despite the media doing it’s usual job, who is worried about getting bombed to smithereens. In the initial days I will admit to it, but now the ranting threats have actually become funny, I quite enjoy trying to work out when the next one is coming and what country is going to be awarded “annihilation in 100 seconds” and for what particular transgression.

What a load of clowns they look.

Something else I've noticed from Telgram, they all have this zero sum game attitude. If they can make Ukraine worse, that somehow make Russia better. Or if Russia is beaten America gets better. It's the opposite of reality. A wealthy neighbour is always good. (Unless you're a despot who wants to steal from the public purse and conceal it from your people.)

Off Topic -

I've been looking at the news from Ukraine for so long I've become conditioned. A picture popped up on Facebook and I was looking down into a bunker full of soldiers.

It's actually a box of expensive cakes.

It all ties in with the "who said you could live so well" graffiti put up in peoples homes, and the stealing of washing machines etc.

I'd think the reality of Russia is that those people have no option to improve their own lives. Controlled via propaganda, financially, and physically, the only option to feel in control of their lives, is to bring down the standard of living for others.

I think a lot of what we're seeing from Russian soldiers on the ground is the exposure of basic human instincts. A "professional" army instils discipline, and has rules and laws that are upheld. So even if the soldier thinks they are a dead man walking/the worlds no longer real, they don't go feral. Russia just doesn't have that. Their troops are unleashed and effectively doing whatever their base instincts want, before they die.

Regarding the talk show participant, note that he talks about how the Ukraine are somehow not throwing straight dice by enlisting the aid of the international community. Russia can claim they are facing down the rest of the world which looks much more palatable than simply facing Ukraine.

I've said this before and I think the analogy still stands well in this example.

Russia is like the really rough council estate that always seems to exist to the detriment of the nice areas around it. Now they're behaving like the ADHD "promising young footballer" out on a spree of terrorising and assaulting all and sundry. They even love shellsuits!

It's certainly one of the features that make me very proud and respectful of all our servicemen.
I get that it's underfunded and all the "issues" the services have, but the calibre of individuals themselves in the UK forces I think remains world class.

I would ilke my "next career" to be involved in the R&D of some of the tech we're talking about above to support our forces. We can all dream, right?

It also highlights a more immediate concern for Russia that this could indicate the start of a potential insurgency within the Russian occupied territory.

A few small teams getting behind enemy lines and then causing chaos on Russian equipment / troops and then blending away in half wrecked towns and the resident population is going to present a big issue on troop morale and also force the Russians to spread their troops out more to cover their rear, weakening the front line and opening up opportunity for further attacks?

Hopefully we will soon see Russian tanks start exploding deep in Russian controlled territory.

Risk for a puppet Mayor in a helicopter or armoured car.

I wonder of they choose female puppet mayors for exactly that reason, less cool to kill a female mayor.

Yep.. Literally destroy everything. They have done far more civilian/worldwide civilian/culture/science damage than they have military.

No mention of the Russians threatening to renegade on the Azov Steelworks soldiers POW swap deal, now they have them in their hands? Instead classing them as terrorists and trying them in the courts as such in Russia..

Has that happened?

Russia have to talk tough, their people want them dead, could be bluster, we don't need to fret yet.
