Round 6 and we’re back to more familiar territory- Spain. The teams know the circuit like the back of their hands, so expect a lot of upgrades. No real clues from pre-season testing as it was a Mercedes 1-2 (!), but my money is again on Max and Red Bull, who really seem to be coming on strong. Ferrari is due its first major upgrade, will it be enough?

Here’s to another great race.

Date(s): Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May 2022.

UK Broadcast Timings (and local time)

All sessions are live on Sky F1. Qualifying and the race are shown as highlights on Channel 4.

Live timing for all sessions available here:

https://www.formula1.com/en/f1-live.html

Lap times, PU component use, technical reports and Stewards' decisions for the weekend will appear here:

Weather forecast:

Another Max win IMO. They seem to have sorted the glitches - as long as they do not dial it to no.11. Quick car, quick driver, no throttling...race win!

Agree with this, frankly, I think Ferrari were lucky to get both drivers on the podium in Miami. If Perez hadn't had engine gremlins I think RB would've had a 1-2.

Think this will be a Ferrari track, so CLC to win unless he had a brain fart.

Plus I think there's a large car update coming for Ferrari.

Saint to win owing to a MV/CLC coming together on the penultimate lap.

This will then result in another epic post race thread, recriminations and world class tantrums.

Ferrari and Aston Martin will both be significant, according to the rumour mill. Aston effectively a B spec car.

I dunno.. max and the RB looking pretty solid now.

If the Ferrari update is effective then that would be very exciting for the championship battle. Their history of in season updates working as planned isn't great though. I think it was 2017 they started with a good car and updated it into a dog, then gave up and reset it to original spec for the last few races and it was good again confused

The news today is that Aston Martin have built precisely 1 AMR22-B and they're giving it to Stroll. hehe

Whoops, although rather this week than next.

Can imagine he’ll be sheepishly asking the factory if they can please knock up a big rear wing for a 1974 Ferrari F1 car!

AHH well that saves some blushes at least.

He does seem to have the worst luck whenever he races in his home town. It doesn't help that the media guys make him the star of the show everytime..

Hopefully this year's GP weekend will go smoothly without a shunt or his team taking him out in Q1 when he could easily have set a faster time...

And if he does have a minor car/wall interface situation, change the gearbox no matter what.

Thankfully, they have changed the reliability rules on gearboxes this year, they have 4 for the season so it’s not an automatic penalty for changing it. (Rule 29, in case you were asking)

Alternative is that he fluffed the downshift destabilising the rear and swinging it round. BUT, he was coming in way too hot - consistent with brake failure - then I think he fluffed the downshift (which you can hear) as the brake pedal was probably on the floor.

But as soon as he stopped you can see him gesticulating that the brakes failed which he then has confirmed on Twitter.

I hope that's his run of bad luck done for awhile.
