Evening,

I've got a roller shutter on my garage thats uses a Eurodrive remote system, and I'm looking for non Eurodrive remotes that work with it. Functionally theres nothing wrong with the standard ones and other that being a little bit pricey for extra ones, the system works fine. Now that I've had it and been using it for nearly 2 years, the remote on my main bunch of keys has started to fall off the key ring. Partly it was the 'leather' strap wearing through, but mainly its because the loop on the fob that the strap goes around, isn't a loop, more or a almost closed 'C', so as the strap softens it evenually just falls off, and theres no real way, without resorting to glue, to attach it to a bunch of keys any other way.

I'm pretty sure its just a generic remote, which after a bit of digging seems to use 433.29Mhz. Has anyone used any other, cheap or otherwise, remotes with the Eurodrive system?

Cheers

You need to find out if it uses a static or rolling code. If the former then you can get generic 'cloning' remotes,

eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203926352217?hash=item2...

If it's on a rolling code the cloning remotes may not work.

Is it worth considering a smart opener? Recently fitted a Meross one to my Rollatec doors and it works very well from an app.

I've got a funny feeling it may be a rolling code one (at least id like to think it it!). I have remembered that I've got a genetic remote for the Chinese diesel heater in the garage that I could try pairing to it. I'll do some investigating.

As for smart control, I hadn't really thought of it. The garage is round the back of the house, and is only used for my Mx5 and motorbikes, none of which I use daily. The 5 would probably be OK with a phone app, but coming back on the bike it would mean gloves off, phone out. Maybe there is a middle ground of both? I wonder if there would be a smart button or something I could put on the bike to open, a bit like those amazon ones for automatically reordering washing powder. It's annoying with the Eurodrive fobs, they work fine, and ok 30/40 quid each is more than the cheap ebay ones, but I can live with that. It's the now found potential of it dropping off my key ring and either getting lost altogether or worse withing range of the garage.

I admit this is about Eurodrive, my garage uses Ecostar.

I bought this remote - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254412941519 - it is at 433.92MHz, and I could pair it with the door opener, the previous one I bought at a different frequency surprise surprise did not work. Button is easy to press, and with a glob of something on the button I think it could be pressed with gloves on.

TL:DR - Make sure you have the correct frequency before you pair the remote to the door opener!
