DISCLAIMER: IT’S NOT WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE...PROPERTY BASED SERIES ONLY.

Wednesdays: 21:00 - 22:00

So... six couples are given 100K each to buy, do up & sell houses.
The ones who make the most profit over the course of a year... gets to keep the initial 100K investment.

I like George, knowledgeable & doesn’t pull any punches.
What could possibly go wrong. scratchchin

It was garbage

George's "assistants" are a waste of time

The "developers" have clearly been selected to tick certain boxes and all have their own unique annoying features

Buying property they've never seen, hundreds of miles away off an internet auction FFS

One to avoid

Sounds like a copy of a piss poor Aussie show that used to be on when we lived there - the block I think it was called

So George doesn't streak about in a twin turbo Callaway Corvette then? Shame.

I think George is more into campers & buses etc.

‘Findfixflog’... but with houses.

He did give the ‘bought unseen’ couple some good advice though.
Basically, “OK, listen you two dipsticks, don’t do that again...RIGHT!”

That's on More4 at the moment, some series building apartments in an Art Deco block? 2016 maybe?

I'm honestly surprised the foreman and his mate haven't had an 'accident' given the way they act like total aholes to the various builders.

That's it - i don't think I lasted watching about 10 minutes of it, but their country is so bloody dull that every episode and event was front page news everywhere you looked ... there was no escaping it!

Sounds like an evolution of the series he did last year where he throws two strangers together with a budget to buy a house, do it up and sell it in 6 weeks, and if there is a profit they share it 50-50.

My bad it is presented by Simon o Brien not George Clarke. And nothing to do with Craig from Big Brother. Called "The Great House Giveaway". I thought there was only one series but it appears to have kept going.

So...
Ricky & Andrew spend nearly all the budget actually doing up the house.

Janet & spend money on furnishings... but left a lot to be desired, showing some obvious shoddy repairs.
( I wonder what they were covering up though)

Decisions, Decisions...scratchchin
I would have gone for the better finished, unfurnished house.

The girl family doing it for her on the cheap/free is cheating imo.

It pretty much sums up what I’ve seen in real life. Places that need modernising aren’t discounted to the cost of the work needed.

Yeah sure if you bodge it or do it yourself, or it’s a rising market.

WK3: Quiet week.
When I bought my first house, it took a month of cleaning & redecorating before actually moving in... & only lived ten minutes from my home address.
It had a decent fitted kitchen... bathroom was dated, but adequate.
No trades needed, just plenty of elbow grease.
Obviously... I wasn’t looking for a quick flip.

I don’t know if I would want to buy a house to do up so far from home, in an unknown market.
All that travelling time wasted & with rising fuel costs to factor in too.
Even if friends or family members are helping, I’m sure that they wouldn’t want to keep travelling those distances.
You would also have to employ unknown trades people.

Only a couple of episodes in but there does seem to be a bit of a gulf between contestants who are able to do something local as prices there are low, and those who have had to look a long way from home as local prices are too high.

I suppose £100K, to include any renovations isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of things. scratchchin
It will be interesting to see what happens when they buy their second properties.
