When my RR Sport goes off lease (cant wait) I am looking to buy a V8 of some description, before it's too late and they get even more taxed to death!

I want something that sounds amazing, is comfortable, not too old and reliable..............asking too much?

So far, my short list includes

BMW M5 - 2015-2016
Jag XFR - 2013-2015
Audi S6 - 2014-2016

I've been put of Merc stuff after owning a 2016 C63 Saloon, which rattle like hell inside, and the ride was too firm.

I'd love a BM M550i, but it's still out of my budget.

Any thoughts on above? Any other ideas or past experiences?

What’s wrong with a Six Cylinder and why don’t you lease again.

I don't mind the six cylinders, but I've had a few over the years, but never a V8

As for leasing, it's ridiculously expensive at the mo, so that's putting me off that

Speaking of 6 cylinders, the BM 540i is also on the list

When I bought my last car 3 years ago, I test drove an Alfa Guilia, Audi A6 50 TDI Quattro, BMW 530d M Sport, Jaguar XF 3.0 S and Mercedes E350.

All of them were around 6 months old and to be honest you’d be fine with any of them. My favourites were the Audi and BMW.

I wouldn’t ignore Diesel or 6 Cylinders. Apart from looking at V8 Rover SD1’s as a teenager in the early 90’s, I’ve never really got the whole V8 thing.

A bit over budget, but maybe worth stretching to.

There was a thread recently on a Lexus GS-F

If you want something reliable then that's the one.

Not very vocal as stock, but I'm sure an aftermarket exhaust would be available, there was a few for the RC-F

They are marmite though. You either love them, or hate them.

Looks like it's been reduced to £34,975

Buy the GTS, immediately drive it to Chamonix and let it cool down. Then get someone else to start it up while you are stood outside. One of the greatest automotive sounds I have ever heard.

Going off track a touch.....A Maserati Quattroporte or a Ghibli S.

I know the Ghibli is a V6 but believe me it's amazing. Lux pack is great. Lovely soft leather and in sports mode it's got a wonderful rasp.

IS-F is in budget and I think this 2013 will have the LSD. Maybe it's too small though.

From your list the XFR has an amazing supercharged engine, but there are a few things you need to check including the timing chain tensioner is the latest revision, supercharger snout, coolant pipes running down the V, brake judder and the rear e-diff which had a manufacturing issue so hopefully will have been changed.

The Audi S8 is a great shout. I’ve had an A8 which was a wonderful car and now have an RS6, the S8 is a lot of car for the money

Always had a soft spot for the S8

And always wanted one like this, but that might be a little old for your taste

Luckily no, they have an 8 speed box from memory.

The CVT's are in the smaller engined ones I think?

I had a 2016 RCF which definitely wasnt a screaming CVT
