So I am looking at possibly getting into an early model 2016 Huracan and have a few questions I hope owners oucl help me answer

Does the official warranty only cover cars up to 7 years old, after then, what's the best option? I would be worried if it didn't have a warranty as anything serious would be huge money - my Mclaren has always had extended warranty in place - this feels like a potential deal breaker if i can't get a warranty...?

Are Huracan prone to expensive issues? It seems from my research they are far far more reliable than Mclaren and build quality is very very good.

Can a Huracan be kept outside, as I don't have a garage - i can probably use a friends garage f i need to travel overseas, so long periods of time over a week i can put on a charger - but normally its outside in carpark - no charger, is that ok?

Huracans even early ones seem to hold strong money still, Mclarens not so much - is this likely to change???

Any options that are a must for resale - nose lift i assume is?

any other information would be helpful - prices seem a little high atm, but you only live once!

I'm not going to be the most helpful as I own a gallardo performante spyder and a mclaren 12c so cannot comment on the Huracan. All I will say is that the Huracan won't be any different to any other car out there with regards to leaving outside without a trickle charger ie use it or lose it re the battery. Suspect anything approaching 2 weeks and you could have issues. Can always get a solar powered trickle charger to assist in some way.

Re values. Youve said it yourself: we are in the everything bubble right now, some have popped already, the rest will surely follow to varying degrees. I would personally be tempted to wait until the end of the year, beginning of next for prices to soften in all cars but could well be wrong. Suspect residuals will be better on Lamborghini than Mclaren but again, as you say, you only live once so why let a little detail like that get in the way?!

I had a 2014 610-4 and now a 2018 Perf. I ran the 2014 without a warranty (after the main dealer one elapsed). No issues whatsoever.

They are well built cars with AFAIK no systematic issues. A lot of the unseen bits like electrical parts etc are Audi so tend to be bullet proof.

I had a 650S spider and went to a Huracan. You’ll love the sound albeit it doesn’t have the turbo bonkers quick feeling of the Mac but it’s plenty fast enough! My extended warranty on the Perf runs out in 9 months and I don’t intend to extend it, at least that’s my current thinking.

Options wise - I think the lift is essential as they sit very low. Bluetooth And DAB are sought after as is the magneto rheologic suspension which comes standard with lift. I’m indifferent on LDS (dynamic steering) - it was much better calibrated on later cars and in Perf spec has a fixed ratio in the Corsa mode.

I’m no market expert on what will happen to prices once supply corrects and the economic headwinds come to bear, but it does have one of the sweetest n/a engines ever built and options for a modern n/a super car are very limited so that may stand it in good stead to some extent. It is an end of an era car so enjoy while you and it are young.

Thanks for the replies

I have seen Huracan pre covid for £120k, but higher mileage and lower spec, £130-140k seems the place there are at now, can't seem them dropping under 100-110 ???

Does anyone know of a good after market warranty that would have good cover for big things, engine, gearbox, suspension etc - is Warranty wis good for a huracan?

I love my 12c in an ideal world i'd keep it too, but the Huracan looks so aggressive and more modern and the whole feeling when driving is very different, very soldi, squat and low - the Mclaren feels lithe and slender and does feel faster, in a different way!

decision decisions!!!
