I was surprised not to see a post about this already. Thought the free speech lot would be all over this. Has Tommy Robinson lent his support yet?

What's that line that gets trotted out here all the time, usually in defence of scumbags.

I don't agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!
There is.

But it was a one off.

It's actually unbelievable that Bruce said that.
Jeez.

A ‘one off’?

Like punching someone and they die ‘one off’?

Seriously?

It's about time someone gave the mealy-mouth crisp muncher a poke in the eye.

It's easy to navel gaze and preach when you earn £1.3m a year.

I wish the reply had been "If Braverman steps back from ministerial duties, I'll step back from presenting. Until then."
I understand he wasn't given the choice.

Anyone got any examples of the BBC sanctioning staff for being supportive of government policies? Or does that not count as impartial?

So this Govt policy is to support the less well off?

Trying to figure out your train of thought here...

I'd prefer it if he stfu unless he also has meaningful ideas and solutions to put forward to the problems he's referencing.

His comparisons are wrong and inflammatory and, ultimately, probably not helpful.
The Govt policy is wrong, inflammatory and not helpful either let's not forget.

Yup. The Beeb should have gone the whole hog and invited Braverman to present Match of the Day. She's better qualified for that than being Home Secretary.

I’m not disputing what you’re saying, but just so everyone knows what this is referring to, Stanley Johnson’s wife spoke to a journalist, Tom Bower, and she said that Stanley Johnson had broken her nose and that she’d ended up in hospital as a result.

Stanley Johnson has not commented publicly on that. Friends of his have said it did happen it was a one-off.

I would happily just watch the football without the likes of Jonathan Pearce and the screaming banshees.

This could save the BBC a fortune!

One of the conditions of working for the BBC is that you don't publicly wade into politics. He has done it numerous times and is insistent that he will not be complying with his employers policies. Any organisation should be looking to move someone like that on.
Is it though?

Andrew Neil was chairman of the Spectator while also presenting for the BBC.

Lineker, Wright and Shearer greatly overestimate their punditry talents IMO. If we really must have post-match pundits at all, and that's debatable to say the least, I would shed no tears if all three of them were permanently subbed off.

Whether you agree with him, or not, he is an ex footballer and advertiser of crisps, however he is employed by the BBC he represents it as he is on their programs.

It isnt that he isnt entitled to opinion, just that he should keep it to himself as football pundit, we respect his opinion on football matters but I dont want telling how to think on immigration policy. It isn't his job, and without his job he wouldn't really have a platform.

He is a very wealthy man, telling those who dont have a 3 million quid contract flogging unhealthy food what he thinks, maybe pipe down and stop being a bit of a hypocrite ?
