I went on the Internet today, and I found this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234941827106

Proper engine build in that, almost tempting just to put the engine in the Ute!

Not my car or related to the seller, although I have seen it and been a passenger in it and can confirm it pulls very hard!

Ooof! That could go cheap.
You're right, a proper engine build. I'm also tempted, just to drop the engine in my VXR as it has all the sort of parts I'd want to fit to my 5.7

I'm sure that was up for sale not that long ago?

Would still like it (still miss my VT2) shame it's not manual...

Yep, especially with exchange rates now, a set of heads, valvetrain and such, oil pump, cam etc. is going to add up very quickly even without the cost / labour of assembly, and it being a newly built low miles engine etc. compared to upgrading your own. Plus you end up with your own engine to sell on afterwards.

I'm almost talking myself into it again at this point hehe

I saw it down at Australia Day with the for sale in the window, it's been with the same owner for some time. Agreed that if it was a manual, I'd probably have bought it, not that I need another getmecoat

Pretty sure it's been on for a while.

Probably not bad value at the current price to be fair.

If I had £7500 I'd almost certainly buy it, it does look good...

It was.

£12 for ages, then £10k for a while before selling, and now £7500.

At £10k I was tempted in getting it for the Wife, (she only does around 120 miles per week), as she used to have a 2.6 Omega, which she loved.

Perhaps I’m being paranoid, but the rapid change of owners and rapid decrease in price sets my spidey senses tingling.

I built that engine and have been taken for a drive in the car. It's very quick and every time he did a paddleshift gear change I was properly shoved back into the headrest. Those gear changes were instant. I really enjoyed the ride. Traction control helped keep it straight. The car's immaculate and if anybody gets it for below £10k it's a steal. I knew the owner for a very long time while he specced the build and he was fastidious in every aspect.

I'd imagine at 2001, rust could be a concern ?

It is a bit of an unusual, unfamiliar car for most. Not sure if easy or awkward to insure ?

Cool toy for someone though

The ad says it cost him £285 to insure. Did it sell at £10,000 before Christmas,? or has it just been re-listed now as an auction ?

Just to confirm, it's been with the same bloke for years, it was he who had all the work done etc.

As Boosted LS1 says above, it does pull very well, it felt like 3rd, 4th and 5th were all the same gear hehe

Terrific spec! Very interesting gearbox change and there are a couple of guys very good at gearbox strategies that could finesse that tune. I saw the car at the Ace recently and it probably wants the paintwork standardising but other than that, if it goes for under 10k someone will have a bargain, providing those two rear of engine chassis legs are ok, but it sounds like everything has been done?

Problem with cars like this ,and mine, is they are not ULEZ compliant, the thought of being hit £50 to use it over a weekend tis a bit unsavoury.
May not affect you now, but it’s coming to a town near you soon

Apparently my E3 GTS is ULEZ compliant, and " I'm helping to improve the air quality across London"

I fancied importing one of those boxes to but it seemed very expensive. A 6 speed auto would tick a lot of boxes for me, especially a strong one like this. Who can smooth out the tuning?

Niiiice. Happy to see a nice detailed, well formatted advert for a change!

Not sure about putting the insurance thing on there though, I'm glad he got a great deal but its based on so much more than the car unfortunately. Double it as soon as you add in 70% London postcodes. cry
