Hi

I have a 1989 S1.5 (i.e. 2.9 engine but missing the inner wheel arches from the S2 along with some other options). Has anyone out there tried retro fitting the inner wheel arches to an S?

I'd like to have them as I think it will protect the underneath of the bonnet from stone chips etc but they are £80 a side from TVR so before I go and order them it would be nice to know whether they will actually fit and if so how hard they are to attach.

Thanks

Colin

No idea about retro-fitting, by mine are held in place by about 5 wood screws into the GRP on the bulkhead....there's also a few cable-ties to keep everything in place. Still doesn't stop them falling off and fouling the wheels every once in a while though

They're in two parts, fixed part screwed into the tub and moving part bolted to wooden bonnet formers. Which parts are you missing?

I think it's the one that is attached to the bonnet, although I'm not sure if the fixed ones I have is the same as the later ones either. There is an arch attached to the tub but judging from the descrption in the bible it doesn't extend down as far as the later ones, because it doesn't protect the front chassis rails.

Sounds the same as mine then. Fixed bit stops just above the outrigger at the bottom and extends an inch or so forward of the tub at the top. If you like I'll get you a photo of mine to show how the front bits attach to the bonnet. But remember the V8S bonnet is slightly different, there's still a risk that yours is different.

Certainly sound the same, pictures would be helpful. I'm down at the Hants TVRCC meet this evening so I might take my camera with me and take see if there is an S2/3 that I can have a look at and compare it to mine.

Thanks

LeeBee - would you be interested in selling them?

Sounds like as long as the V8s bonnet is not that different from the S2/3 it should be possible to retro fit. Just need to work out the fixings, methinks a close look at an S2/3 is called for.

Better take a my camera and a torch tonight!

Thanks everyone

This is adding to an old thread!

Mine is an S1 fitted with a V8 bonnet (the Sheep in Wolfs clothing!). I have the original S1 front inner wheel arch sections. They are, as usual, distorted and a bad fit. While I have her stripped down I would like to deal with it.

Can I get hold of any of the later ones from anywhere or does anyone have a spare set I can mould from or they are prepared to sell?

I think you're too far from me for a loan to be practical, but if it's any consolation the shape looks pretty simple and I imagine somebody familiar with moulded fiberglass construction could make moulds up from scratch.

Hi Jaye, that is great, good of you. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an active link to enable me to PM you?
