Was this protest really going to involve wrecking power stations or is it another heavy handed Police approach using questionably sourced intelligence to stop peoples right to peaceful protest?
There is a 3rd option. A mass tresspass that closes down the power station without "wrecking it".

Peaceful protest is one thing but protesting gives you no right to disrupt power supplies. So I think the police action is fully justified.
I don't.

I despise the greens and all they stand for, but bugger me, if the plod can go and arrest over 100 people just on the suspicion that something "might" happen and we as a nation are in a really sticky place.

Whats next - arrested for owning a car that is capable of breaking the speed limit? You are conspiring to after all - you've even paid someone else to give you the capability!

The full story has not yet been revealed.

But there is a big difference between what 'might' happen and having a detailed plan in place to achieve such a breakin.

Is it the numbers that bother you?
If it was 2 people would you be so worried?

I can see what mondy is saying but I guess you can't wait till the offence has been committed in a case like this as the ramifications are pretty dire. It still smacks of further erosion of civil liberty though........

Here come the thought Police. Conspiracy to hold a protest? FFS! This is Britain for gods' sake = our forefathers fought and died in order that we have the freedom to express views that might not be in accordance with the authorities. Even if they were planning to be disruptive, to be arrested before the fact is a worry; surely this is the authorities abusing the powers handed-down in the name of Anti-Terrorism? Look what happens! Shouldn't be surprised really but ffs this is getting out of order. All this from 'socialists'!!

I bet that the number of charges arising from the 100+ arrests is precisely zero.

Yes I guess it will be easier in future to pick them up for "Owning a dog on a piece of string", "Having stupid hair", "Being an emo" and "Smelling with intent to cause offence".
