He is absolutely spot on here.
The normal controllers of famine, war and disease don't work to keep our population in check any more. Our planet is vastly overpopulated which is a huge danger to us all.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7996230.stm

The broadcaster Sir David Attenborough has become a patron of a group seeking to cut the growth in human population.

On joining the Optimum Population Trust, Sir David said growth in human numbers was "frightening".

Sir David has been increasingly vocal about the need to reduce the number of people on Earth to protect wildlife.........................more

It all works itself out, no need to worry...

As the population grows, war for resources will increase and spread, following war we have famine and disease as social structure breaks down...

Just trying to figure out where pestilence fits into it all...

Population drops as a result... all good !! What's the problem !?!?!?

Good.

For decades this has been blindingly obvious that this is and continues to be the case.

A few less HSE initiatives and a few more space programmes designed at putting Commander Koenig where he belongs - sensible policies for an autobahn-riddled Albion.

The only thing stopping us are miserable, spineless commies...

The Americans have already been onto this since Kissinger's "Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests" report was implemented as National Security Study Memorandum 200.

A world war these days could be a nuclear one which could quite easily make the planet uninhabitable by virtually everything for a while.. so probably best avoided no ?

Because he's not that selfish and self-centered. He sees the bigger picture.

FWIW I agree with Sir David but how do you stop it? Most countries didn't exactly sit at ease with China's one child policy.

We could start by cutting aid to other countries..........harsh but its whats happened for millions of years pre the UN / Bob Geldof etc

Are there any figures published indicating what ethinc group reproduces the most? if there is maybe start with cultural changes for those people

I guess now that Global warming is dying on its feet, a new demon is required so get ready for Shagging taxes and compulsory condom wearing (not ribbed to avoid pleasuring her) smile
You'd have to be a bit dim to not realise overpopulation has bad consequences, imho.

Yeah right, like it or not its a persons right to choose how many kids they have, so I guess we will have to do what we always do and figure it out (until the Neo Fascists take over and ban having kids for the sake of Gaia of course).
confused You were equating over-population with eco-mentalism a few post back; something which has dubious legitimacy unlike over-population which has real consequences. No one is talking about rights ?

According to a Chinese friend of mine, the one-child-policy only applies to people below a certain income level. The middle and upper classes are allowed bread like rabbits apparently.

Kind of a polar opposite to the UK.

The problem china now faces is a large demographic time bomb. The pool of cheap workers isn't getting any bigger. As a country they are likely to get old before they get rich.

Good luck telling those on the Indian Subcontinent and China how to live. We did that once I seem to recall and were called imperialists. Good luck in the new Campaign smile My wife and I did our bit we only had one child net loss to poulation 50% in my Gene pool.

Here's my plan.

Offer £500 to any teenager male or female willing to be irreversibly sterilised.

Eugenics through market forces. Job done.

He's right, next question please.

We need worldwide draconian population/birth control to bring down world pop to about 20% of current level over next generation.

Simple one child per couple no if's or but's. Have more and they are forcibly adopted etc.

Yes I know it will be a nightmare for a generation until all the excess die off but that's the price of saving the planet. Bring it on.
