Hello all,

I recently bought a 360 from a seemingly well respected house, but now they're annoying me slightly.

They advertised the car with bluetooth and satnav, but there is no bluetooth and the satnav didn't come with the disks so it's useless.

No real matter, I'll probably change the head unit anyway.

The thing that really pisses me off, is that when I picked it up they said they didn't have the master (red) key, and that they would send it on as the previous owner still had it. They never did. I chased them up last week (2 months after purchase) and they've said that they have a new red key but it needs programming. So either, they'll send it to me (i'm 100 miles away) and I can get it programmed elsewhere, or I can drive all the way back and they'll do it.

Is that good enough? I don't think so.

Thoughts?

Ask yourself if you would accept this behaviour from your local Ford/VW dealer.

The fact that you have a Dancing Donkey is neither here nor there. Car dealers will get away with as much as they can for as little as they can.

Personally, no. It is not acceptable. Tell them you want the sat nav working too. Get them to come and collect the car from you. Just because there are less Fezza dealers in the UK than mainstream should make no difference to their customer service. In fact, it should be far better because they are chasing a much smaller market.

Discs for Nav should be with car, they need to be getting you some.

Keys are a real PITA for everyone, we use a mobile guy who can programme keys on site for us, might be worth approaching someone local to you who can do this.

Well I don't want to be a moaner about it, and I don't care particularly about the sat nav; but the key is very important to me. I just mentioned the nav as well because I thought it was indicative of their attitude.

Really, I think they should send me the key and then pay whatever my local place will charge to program it.

Also, once reprogrammed, will the new 'red' key be the same as the original red 'master' key? Or is this just going to be a spare that isn't something I can make a copy of? I don't really understand what I'm asking here but I thought there was something special about the original red 'master' key you got when you bought the car. THis was quite important to me.

i wouldn't accept anyone retaining any keys to my car :
not wishing to be alarmist, but is my car secure ?
is my theft insurance valid ?

I bought from a small specialist and needed second key. I bought the car and he promptly sent along a new key from the Lambo factory direct to me about a week later ,and also paid my local dealer to do the programming for me so I did not have to go all the way back. Sounds like this is what you should be aiming for!

Agreed. I will call them again now and ask them to be more helpful.

I wouldn't be happy!. I think some of these dealers work on the basis of that being a Ferrari it will be driven home and wrapped in cotton wool and not driven again just wheeled out for a wash on Sunday mornings.
I had a few issues with my 360 when I first bought it none of them serious but all the same I wanted it sorted, the dealer at one stage did say to me "well you know it's not a new car what do you expect". You can imagine my response and it did get sorted.
Strangely enough I expected my experience of buying upper end quality cars ie Porsche, Ferrari, TVR, Lotus would be a good one, I've got to say buying a Ford Focus would in most cases be more pleasurable.

yikes

I agree with your sentiments, but TVR and upper end quality in the same sentence?
Not a chance.

I bought a used Ferrari from a dealer that has been in business for nearly 36 years, car looked great but had problems from the off, dealer had the vehicle back under warranty to repair but since then I have reported 8 other issues and the car has been in there care in total over 5 weeks! I had to wait nearly 4 weeks for them to paint a parking sensor the size of my thumb nail, when I raised this with the owners son asking who would repair my car if I drove into a bollard etc I was told "that's what insurance is for" since then I have rejected the vehicle but they refuse to give me a refund!! Choose your dealer carefully

It was a long time ago now but I dont recall 360 Becker units ever having bluetooth as a factory option when new. The navigation was really crummy too. I would upgrade to a more modern unit.

The red key is essential on Ferraris of that era. You should insist they sort it quickly at their own expense with no inconvenience to you. There's no way anyone who has been in Ferrari circles for years does not know the importance of this master key.

I would hope that the OP's issue would have been resolved by now.

Well spotted! I didn't see the date. Out of interest, anyone remember if 360's were offered with bluetooth from the factory?

This is an old topic, but for what it’s worth... the red fob (it’s not a key) is not essential. Indeed after its first use, it’s no different to a black fob. What you really need is a PIN code that allows you to reprogram the immobilizer if you lose all your other key fobs. This PIN code was supplied new with all relevant Ferrari’s but many have been lost by now. If you have a red fob but no PIN you may as well not have a red fob! Bottom line - if you have enough key fobs of any colour to be comfortable (the max you’ll have is 3 - one red, two black) and don’t lose them, there’s no need to panic. If you have a PIN code you can panic even less.

No. Only retrospectively. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

The standard 360 Becker does have bluetooth. I have the early version on my 2001 car (I think there was an upgraded Becker on later year models).

The bluetooth works for making and receiving calls only, but won't play music. For music from your phone I think you need to wire an cable into the back of the head unit.
