Was just about to ask this myself.

I've got all

/34637/"> everywhere and info links such as fuelly have gone all haywire.

I did some searching through members cars and it's a problem with all of them.

Just clicked on your profile V15ben and all I got was msxml6.dll error '80070057'

The parameter is incorrect.

/inc/header.asp, line 578

I've been having this now for weeks, posted on website feedback and didn't get any reply!!

Not good PH feedback Teammad This is a major problem and needs a fix! (But it is a Sunday so I'll forgive you if it's not today) biggrin

Not sure why Ben's OP message and other replies have all vanished leaving just mine but how long will we have to wait till this is sorted?

Those who supply plenty of information for the benefit of others all have pages like mine.

All three of my cars are a complete and utter mess, and I'm not alone.

EDITED: Well it looks like Ben's has been sorted... Why not mine?

Regards Jas

smile Hi Ben... When I go to edit the summary, none of the br < br > etc shows there on mineconfused

Because this was the approach I was trying myself, but either through Chrome,Explorer or Android in the Edit summary it all reads as it should.

A br is probably a newline i.e. where you've hit enter. Try making it all one paragraph and they might go away?

Obviously you'll lose formatting, but I doubt there's a workaround for that until Haymarket get a proficient developer on it. Good luck.

Thank you 768 for your thoughts.

I've just tried loosing all the spaces as you suggested on my Nissan profile and in the edit summary there is not a single br< br etc showing. It just looks like a child has written it now,the grammar/spelling thread would have a field day with me laugh

But it's made no difference.

Edited:

This is a recent issue as I hadn't changed any information on the Nissan profile for quite awhile, it all looked neat and tidy the last time I looked. It was only when I was about to add an entry to the TVR it was all screwed up,I then noticed it's on my three profiles and then noticed all members that have detailed info are the same.
Thx again for your input.

Thanks again both thumbup

Strange I'm getting help from you but nothing from the PH team confused

I've made a duplicate blog of the Nissan profile starting from scratch and as you say by using no paragraphs it works.

If you try to enter a web address,I added my Fuelly chart it then goes all wrong.

I also noticed it went wrong when writing without paragraphs on that 1st picture. When I was saying about using the car instead of the Jag I wrote that I went to B&Q and I then got br< amp:;. I deleted B&Q and wrote wood depot and it cleared.

PH team you have serious issues and I find it very strange that someone is not looking into this.

If it was just my garage section that had problems then I can understand you not being bothered, but it's every account that holds information in the garage section.

You'll likely have issues with HTML special characters (&, <, >, ", ') and anything they convert to those characters, possibly just newlines to
.
It'll be pretty straightforward to fix. If you have developer capacity... tumbleweed

More Disappointed PD if I'm honest.. If 768 is correct and it's an easy fix then why's it taking three weeks to fix. The more information that you store for ourselves and the benefit of other members the bigger mess it becomes.
I just see it as not very good advertisement when new members or lurkers stumble across this complete mess.(Very unprofessional)

I know you've been busy with the GTI skin disaster, but can you now find someone to sort this complete mess out in the garage section.(Five weeks now)
Since the new gti skin I have now lost all my photo's,looking through members profiles it looks like about 90% are in the same situation.

I've noticed this issue too. It's not dissimilar to the issue we had a while back where lots of
tags got added in.

I suspect what is happening is that the code is taking what you type, converting it to HTML, taking the resulting HTML as what the user typed (rather than what they actually typed), and then the display filter that interprets the BBCode, does the swear filter, etc., is rejecting it and displaying the HTML verbatim.

What really needs to happen is that the user profile and car profile text boxes should use the same code as a forum post. But it really doesn't surprise me in the least that it's doing something different as I bet that under the hood there is completely different code. Nothing surprises me any more about the Gassing Station.

Edit: Case in point is that the car profile edit box doesn't support the same BBCode as a forum post.
For example, a forum post supports the following two forms for a URL:

[url]text|http://example.com[/url]
[url=http://example.com]text[/url]

However, a car profile doesn't support the second form, which was added much later. That suggests it uses completely different code which hasn't been updated.

Classic paste & hack coding, sadly, with the maintenance nightmare that results from it.

If you create a new car (or edit an existing one), and simply set the Notes field to

Some text

Some more text

Then it will be displayed as follows:

Not being able to render vanilla data created by your own edit box is definitely a bug. smile

This issue is still outstanding, in both the car profile and the car blog.

A line break gets converted to
and then that is escaped to <br/> which then gets displayed as
rather than a line break.

Likewise a [url] tag gets escaped to <a href="URL">text</a>
