Hi all.
Week off next week, as the kids are on an outward bound experience. So we have a week with no kids. Wanted to go to Cornwall to rock climb, but the weather looks cold and miserable, so a city break in Paris is a possibility.
Anyone recommend a nice hotel in the centre, at reasonable rates. About £200 a night for both of us is plenty for me to spend.

Should be cheaper now everyone is being shot eh?

....Well it is at the epicentre of what has just happened, but can recommend the Warwick Hotel. Details here.

Right near a lovely part of Paris and has a very secure car park. About £226 per night.

Bit of car stuff if you go to Avenue des Champs-Elysées (less than 100 metres) and hang a right. A few new car showrooms that are mega and you can imagine what it was like almost a hundred years ago as Petit Bateau was once the Bugatti showroom as pictured below.

And while you are there you can rent a Ferrari or lambo for an hour and swan around town feeling cool.

I saw a load of them with rental signs on last time I was over there. No idea how they buy them if they need to rent them out to make ends meet. hehe

Check out the hoteltonight mobile app.
Can seriously save a couple hundred pound.

Marais or St Germain seems to be the places to stay in.

I stayed at Hotel du Continent when I went. I personally found it ideally located, and it wasn't expensive (by Paris standards). I booked via TripAdvisor, and paid £220 for 3 nights.

Villa des Artistes, Montparnasse, went there a few years ago as a couple, petit chambres, but compact and no complaints.

As a whole Paris isn't that nice a city in my opinion. I'd go elsewhere personally.

I used to have that view too, but I spent a fair bit of time working there over a few years and I came to feel quite differently about it. It grew on me as I became more familiar with it. Lots of the outlying parts of the city are pretty dire though...

The Hotel Balzac is very nice, although some of the rooms are quite small (and it's not cheap)

My favourite hotel in Paris was on the Avenue Kleber, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore (A street view shot suggest it may have been turned into luxury apparatments frown ).

I'm fond of Hotel Westminster on Place Vendome. Should be available in your budget at this time of year.

It's not a massive hotel with lots of facilities (though do try the Hamman) but it has a cosy bar and an excellent restaurant.
The location is ideal for tourism - you can walk to most places.

Restaurant: It's quite an old fashioned, pretty upmarket place. During the week it's scarily expensive but at the weekend it becomes "Le Petit Celadon" https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g187... and has a good value (well, better value) set menu.

The hotel is close to Boulevard Haussmann. Wander to the roof cafes of both the Printemps and galeries lafayette stores. Next door to each other but different views.

I think that you need some form of registration to drive into Paris. Check if you're driving.

One last thing, Paris on Sunday is boring. Everything is closed.

ETA: I haven't been to Paris for a few years, perhaps the Sunday situation is improving: http://haussmann.galerieslafayette.com/en/our-open...

About €95 for 40 minutes or so on/around the Champs Elysee, so it's all slow driving.

HOTEL: I can recommend the Hotel Louison on the left bank.
They also have separate single garage parking across the street.
