991 Ducktail spoiler
Discussion
Hi all, I know that Porsche won't sell the ducktail spoiler on its own as they recommend the full aerokit due to potential instability issues at high speed. To be honest I am lucky if I can reach 70mph where I drive so I was thinking about getting hold of the ducktail on its own.
I see a company sells this alone... http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt715_718_-cma81-cmo...
Has anybody purchased one of these or can recommend a place that does? Any ideas on cost for fitting? Surely something needs to be done to the electrics to stop or remove the motorised unit from operating?

I have a ducktail on my 997 GTS and went for a carbon one from RPM Technik which is very well made. I'm not sure if they do one for the 991's but worth asking.
When researching these I read a lot of conflicting reports about fibre glass ones and their deterioration with the heat they get exposed to.
Parr painted and fitted the ducktail for me and coded out the rear deck lift.
I added an OEM aero kit splitter at the front which was peanuts compared to the carbon ducktail and offsets and potential lift issues.
Overall cost was around £2,500 for above mentioned parts and labour.

On a 991 I would be more concerned about staying OEM i.e. using the official kit....be much much easier if you ever want to sell. OPC's won't touch a modified car as they can't warranty it and a lot of buyers will want a car that is OEM. My guess is that fitting after market would cost you as much in residual value as you would save by going for something like the RPM kit. Less of an issue on a 997.
