Ethereum in free fall now, as usual I bought in at absolute peak. Lost a fair amount of money on stop losses, have recovered a small amount by shorting it.

i sold up a few days back, i had liquidated most, still a bit held, i am not worried lots of opportunities still.

a little tip, when tether starts going over 1 dollar, this generally means people are holding in tether and waiting for price stability, usually indicates dropping btc/eth prices. the fast rebounds are most don't cash out into fiat.

So anyone think now might be a good time to buy in? The prices are as low as they've been for a while and the analysts still seem to be indicating that the long term prospects are good.

If it doubles in price that would be 500 USD. Which could happen but if it did there would be other coins increasing as well. Quick profits maybe not, longer term probably.

That's a big if though, it still seems to be in freefall at the moment, down 45 dollars since yesterday with no signs of stabilising let alone a bounce back at the moment

Trying to use coinbase to buy some crypto currencies but GBP funding doesn't seem to be working only card payments which have limit of £500 a week iniitally or buying in Euro's which is pants. Can anyone suggest an alternative way to buy BTC and ETH via GBP bank transfer?

Bittylicious.com is great but there can often be a hefty premium.

This has a rundown for Bitcoin - http://bittybot.co/uk/buy-bitcoins-uk/

Looks like Etherium is tanking quite badly, from a high of over £300 last month to £166 today. Not really sure what's happening but I'm glad I only put a little bit in. I was quite tempted to go for a big investment and I'm glad I didn't now!

Well with 1 Bitcoin worth £1,855 today and many industry types saying that Ethereum will be higher then Bitcoin, now is probably the time to invest and buy.

I'm still holding all of mine as I see it as a long term investment.

Yes but two things.

1) There are no guarantees it will "do a bitcoin".

2) After a surge to $300 dollars it's been all downhill, the more worrying thing is no one seems to know why it's falling at the moment. Nothing in the news which might be effecting the price either.

The second point is my biggest worry around crypto currency, it seems to fluctuate on a whim with no real correlation to world events which makes it very unstable and hard to predict.

Has anyone on here set up an ether mining rig? Any thoughts/experiences?

network issues are one, the network has been slowing, most likley due to stupid ico releases, remember though eth was 15 pounds in march, 10x in 4 months is still good.

yes TBH due to a job loss i am going to sell but if you want pointers just ask.

mine is gtx 1070 x 6 - 170 m/h at 75% power consumption so around 800 watts at wall all in.

i mine other coins as well, but on ethereum currently as you can mine 2 coins without effecting efficiency, adds a few quid a day/

I'm "holding" in the hope that it will indeed "do a bitcoin" - it's not a lot, money I can lose without it affecting my everyday life - so if it totally tanks then so be it. On the upside, I made £130 on Easyjet shares today - woo hoo!
Not a lot, but if that would happen every day I'd be a happy man.
It won't, though, and I'll end up in the gutter of day-traders who sank - which is around 90% of them apparently!
As Spruce Goose said, "Never think you can read the market".

btc is holding well though which is good. there is uncertainty in the market as a whole for sure. 1st august is the big day for BIP148, to end the stale mate.
