DBS Boot Chrome
Discussion
Hi Paul
On a SCD event recently I met a chap called Paul James who owns an immaculate DBS and he was telling me that he's had the chrome boot strip re chromed, but because it kept getting damaged he had a carbon one made and it really was a work of art. You could try emailing him for more information. It doesn't look like he posts here much now, but I'm sure he could help you. Do a search for his user name shropshireAston to find his email address.

Unfortunately you can't really get them rechromed. The base metal is poor which is why they flake after time anyway.
What you can do is have the chrome removed and the aluminum underneath polished. You will then need to get it lacquered - again, finding a place that'll lacquer polished aluminum is a pain.
A friend in the US is currently considering making replacement parts available but given the time to create the parts, test, lack of demand he's not sure about it. 1k for the main strip is extortionate.

Had the same problem about a year ago, and did some research about rechroming, etc, but that is not a real lasting solution.
Then Paul James showed me his carbon solution, and I did the same. The result is stunning:
Was made by Carbon Fibre Repair (http://carbonfibrerepair.com/ ), ask for Brett Paris and he will help you out.

I like the carbon treatment but not sure how it will look on lighter colours. Also not sure yet that I prefer it to the Chrome.
Tricky decision.... I also like to keep things looking factory.
May have conversation with Bamford Rose

What colour is your car? The pic you see before of my DBS is Hammerhead Silver. Tricky decision.... I also like to keep things looking factory.

Agree about keeping it original...........but putting in a new chrome strip will not solve the problem (it will slowly get loose anyway) and th carbon strip will last much longer. The good news is that when you trade in the car, you can put back the chrome strip of course.
BTW, there is a huge weight difference in the original chrome strip (which is from metal, but only with a thin chrome layer on it)m the carbon strip weighs a lot less.
