A long story short

5 years ago I took out a mortgage with a major lender.
At that point they somehow placed the mortgage on my farthers credit file. They also started sending me all his banking corispondence.

We called to complain about the obvious data protection breach ECT and were told in righting that the issue had been rectified.

Fast forward to last week and I call them for a better deal. Imagine my surprise when I'm told that I do t hold a mortgage with them and I need to go to a branch to prove my id.

The branch manager confirmed that my dad is still registered as the account holder on the file.

They are investigating.

I'm pissed off and my old man is too.

This clearly affects both of our credit files as well as meaning can't do anythingwith my mortgage until they sort this out.

I know they will try and fob us off at the end of this so how should I proceed.

financial ombudsman. although I believe you'll have to get to the end of the bank complaints procedure before they'll look at it.

also the Information Commisioners Office for the data breach - but you can do that straight away

IT maybe NOT the banks fault. It may be Experian at fault.

Every cloud has a silver lining, you are at least mortgage free.

Suggest this is a bank error rather than credit reference agency. Is there/has been recently an address link between you both as that could quote easily create the problem in my opinion.
