Have we had an "items where own brand is better" Thread?
Discussion
We all know that there are plenty of utterly dreadful supermarket own brand products which are a pale imitation of the original branded item, but there are also some out there which are at least as good, if not better!
Given that the branded items are always cheaper as well, it wouldn't hurt to have somewhere for people to suggest some?
Assuming we've not done this before, I'll get the ball rolling with Sainsburys Salted Peanuts. Not much more than half the price of KP peanuts, but actually (to my palate) nicer!
This is a rare find, as every other brand of peanuts I've tried (whether branded or supermarket) has been extremely disappointing.

Anything from M&S is better than the branded option
Are you sure?I'm quite happy to shop in M&S for quite a few food items, but a significant percentage of what they sell is dire. I never buy chicken from M&S, and their ketchup is not a patch on Stokes. It's also worth noting that 20 years ago, the only things you could buy in an M&S foodhall was branded "St Michael" and now you can buy pretty much any major brand.

I think most of Lidl own brand stuff is just as good if not better in some cases. (Waiting for the wrath of PH powerfully build directors)
Maybe of the exception of the butter (lurpack rip off), its not very good.
Disagree - the Lidl butter is excellent! Maybe of the exception of the butter (lurpack rip off), its not very good.
