It's FLAT

It's a V12v, not driven for a week ( I think) and it gave me the death rattle this morning

How long should it last sat on the drive, just trying to determine if the battery is kipper'd or if I have a drain

DBS is on life support and pyjamas constantly and still has it's original battery at 7 yrs old

7 years does perhaps not seem too bad.
It could have been worse, you might have been reporting this on the Tesla forum. _ wink

I was most surprised that mine reached year 9, and was still fine.
Thought I had pushed my luck far enough at that point, and so had a precautionary change.

Question is, is it normal to go flat after only a week of inactivity?

I know these cars do suffer

Nah that's not normal - I'm sure I'm not the only one that's gone on holiday for 3 weeks and got back and the car has been fine (and no use of a trickle charger either).

Sounds like your battery might be dodgy...

My car is fine after 4 weeks and no charger....but I do now use one

Isn't it to do with the tracker? With a tracker maybe a week or so....without maybe 4...not much different from your average new car really

Not normal of course, but if that week just happened to be the final week before dying, it could be the explanation.

( Akin to the person who had an unexpected heart attack. "I know he was 92, but are you sure, he was alright last week". )

Also depends what state of charge it was in when you left it sitting.

I used to commute in my V8 with the AC on all the time and I don't think the battery ever got a chance to fully recharge. It wouldn't last two weeks without a trickle charger but when I realised what was going on, a good blast at the weekend sorted it out.

I would fit a new battery, for the price it costs it’s not that expensive (in Aston terms) and at least that way you are dealing with a known quantity. Especially with winter and colder temperatures approaching

Is it not worth checking to see if there is a reason for the battery draining so quickly ? Rather than assuming its just the battery.

Obviously, it could well be the battery, but it would be a painful/costly job if you went out a bought a new battery for it to drain so quickly again.

i know there have been some threads on here where the battery has been draining quickly due to tracker/alarm etc.

Might be worth taking it to an auto electrician to check first.

Most car batteries last around 4-6 years so you have done well.

Change it, and at least that will eliminate that.
