Can anyone recommend a good Peer to Peer investment company? I'd also be interested to hear peoples experiences of investing in one.

I've tried most of them as I had sold a property and needed to park funds for a year.

Worst for me was Funding Circle (bad debt and fees ate up most of the gains).

Best for me is Zopa (not a penny in bad debt and easy to withdraw funds).

I'm starting to realise that there are much better P2P companies (in terms of returns and security) than the big names.

Look around your local (or other) area and/or speak to accountants.

To be honest I had a decent return from funding circle (Prior to the recent changes), but I did go to the trouble of reviewing each loan I invested in.

However, since they removed the option of selecting which loans to invest, I decided I would not invest new money with them as the returns are lower for what appears to be more risk (in my opinion).

Anyone know of a P2P than allows me to individually select the loans I invest?

Have you / anyone invested any money in Assetz Capital? Curious to hear real world experiences.

Their website stats look to have a very low level of arrears and losses, provision funds in place also.

My biggest chunk of P2P is in Assetz Capital investing in the GBBA 'black box' option. So far it is achieving the indicated 7% target rate as advertised.

I also have money in Ratesetter, Funding Circle and Ablrate with no issues.

What's that option if you don't mind me asking?

You can either manually pick who you invest in for 10%+ interest or go for the black box option where you get less interest but the back end decides where it is invested (max exposure 20% or similar I believe).

They have other fund and forget options in renewable energy and property.

Have you had any issues withdrawing early from AC?

I am not sure how you can withdraw 'early' from the black box options as there is no fixed term.

I only invest in those so don't know about the manual option.

Have you heard that there are issues withdrawing the money as I don't recall actually recall taking any money out yet as mine is set to auto reinvest?

BTW - from their website:

No fee for early withdrawal – exit possible subject to demand from other investors. Otherwise you will receive your cash back over the term of the loans held within the account which could be over a period of up to five years.

So you could end up being unable to access your funds...

I’ve got £5-10k invested with fundingsecure. All earning 12-13%.

I limit myself to £100 per loan so have 50-100 investments now.

All loans are for 6 months.

I’ve been piling in to an Investment Trust called Ranger Direct Lending that’s trading at 30% discount to NAV. It’s a P2P fund.

It’s looking dirt cheap because one of its investments has gone bad and investors having panicked and it’s oversold now.

They’ve made provisions against all the bad debts and still have a NAV of 1060p. Share price is 715p.

It launched a couple of years ago at £10 and since then has paid about 180p in dividends and currently has a NAV of £10.60 so even after the writedown it’s performed very well.

I reckon next year it’ll yield 13-15%.

It was trading at a premium to assets and once it’s resolved it’s current issues the 30% discount should go.

LIM Asia..... a special situations fund have recently bought 10%. They have a history of releasing value in their investments.
