I'm wondering whether Kingfisher could be a reasonably solid buy (obviously never going to set the heather alight). Owner of B&Q and Screwfix - has done well through the pandemic and you could foresee that DIY/home improvement will benefit from the current house price increases and/or the market quietening down and more people doing home improvement. P/E ratio is quite low at around 11.

Sounds like a ‘steady Eddie’ to me, I already hold ULVR, RKT, PHP and several others. Yes, why not.

Not sure this is really the right thread but I've had money in a fund of India shares (Liontrust India)..
Its done incredibly well over the last 12months and is back up to the previous peak level of January 2018.
What are peoples thoughts on India, I took the position some years ago that it was a developing nation, following on from the far east developments (China, Tiawan, Korea etc) and a good long term hold but I seem to have "lost touch" with India and news. Is it still progressing or has politics and social problems resulted in a slow down?
Thanks for any thoughts.

I know nothing of India but it imo is a potential future growth place. All I really know is there will be a water shortage soon as China is damming up rivers that lead to it. Either thst or war. So ammo and water companies?

Bidstack is a company (and ultimately a share price) that could easily hit 40p + or crash and burn by next April.

I have no doubt from people within the industry there advertising tech is top end, but I also have no doubt based on the company’s performance there commercial prowess is appalling.

They do have income streams but they are far lower than was originally envisaged by this stage of the companies development.

AGM due soon, will be revealing.

Another share dilution to prop up poor commercial revenue will not go down well.

I've been in Bidstack since the start, bit of a rollercoaster. Their tech is really good, they should do really well just on that and with all of the talk of banning loot boxes in games developers will be looking for new revenue streams.

Their comms is rubbish though. They've worked with codemasters for years who have now been bought out buy EA, EA games are the perfect ones for BIDS tech ie Fifa with the advertisement boards around the ground and other sports games, they are now in some EA games but it's only known through someone finding a presentation online.

Yes looked upon it as a future growth area for the last 10 years and over most of them it has been. Wasn't sure if the speed of growth was slackening or not. Hadn't heard about the Chinese damming the water sources. Is that to political to stop it getting to India or just because they want it for their own use or for hydro electricity purposes?

Michael Burry (he of shorting the US housing market fame) said some years ago "Fresh, clean water cannot be taken for granted. And it is not—water is political, and litigious." He is reportedly long on water.

As regards India and growth, when I worked there in the mid-90s it was going to be the next big thing. Except it wasn't; China was instead. Back then, FX was 50 INR to the GBP. Today it is over 100. So be careful of growth rates in local currency if investing from abroad smile

This graph in USD may be useful:

Note how much better China has done than India. Absolute GDP is more startling.

SKWD, thanks for that, the graph shows a somewhat different view of what India is like although the fund I hold is one of my better ones. Maybe a reflection on those rather than India.
I note Germany at the top, I thought their GDP was faltering.

What's going on with Greatland Gold?

I bought some on a whim and it seems rather flat. All the news seems fairly positive

M&G (MNG) have come to my attention recently. I have lots of inv trusts and equitites in my ISA and have been dealing in shares for about 40 years now. I feel like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth here though, what am I missing? It must be really obvious mustn't it? Chart looks fine and I like a reasonable dividend that keeps rising. But this is just under 9% yield so WTAF? I've checked the divs on various websites to make sure the yield is actually there and not just a calculation anomaly on certain websites, all seems fine.

Is it just a rare example of an absolute bargain or is there something funny going on?
I looked at M&G, agreed with you and bought on the basis of your comments. I’m showing a good profit on the 4 month holding and received a very tidy dividend payment yesterday.

Thanks for that one. thumbup

Have held M&G since they split from Pru. Nice divi rather.

No idea

I think the main run up was because a similar company did well and dragged them up too. Was it Ceres?

Massive spikes up never hold so it's always a guessing game where price will settle after. If there is more good news it can keep motoring but if there isn't then it can soften.

Tricky one to value here as they make no money yet. I know some people are never interested in jam tomorrow which this clearly is.

Recently floated on Nasdaq - just bought over a few points in its subsequent dip. Their proposition looks, on the face of it, to be quite compelling as a long term one in design and production, from the ground up, of electric vehicles.

For more background, look up the Kryten/Fully Charged You Tube on their orders for UPS vans now in production.

Anyone else got these people on their radar?

Have work horse stopped making ups vans then ?

I know they had some actually being used because i thought they were nailed on for the usps contract as they actually had vans out in use delivering stuff rather than on a drawing board .

Much like this country though the firm that can push out the volume of vans quickest/cheapest gets the contract hence why you see most posties in peugeot partners and not ford/vauhall any more.
