I get the impression Tags are frowned upon round these parts , but I have always wanted one, the criteria is that it has the red and green logo, thats what I have always had in my minds eye.
They are quite as expensive as I imagined, the F1 models at about £1000, I could spend more but I dont want to, I am not a watch aficionado, its just a bucket list thing.
The other option is an Omega Seamaster, a vintage type but feel thats a bit of a minefield so a new Tag seems the easiest solution.
Any pitfalls ? apart from it not being much to shout about on here

If you like it buy it, is what i say!
I've got quite a few watches including an older Tag F1. Some people do look down on them but who cares!
One thing i would say though is make sure you get a decent discount on it.
Also have a look at the Christopher Ward Motorpsort range, i've got one of their Rapide models that looks very similar (ie an homage) to the Tag F1 model.

Speak to PHer and all round decent bloke, Dom H at www.hackettwatches.com - he can source new at a good price.
Cool, seems like they arent quite as derided as I thought, to be honest, its been a thing so long I dont care. I bought a replica off someone years ago and always vowed to buy the real thing one day.
I wore it for years, got a Citizen and it then lived in my fish tank for ages, my dad decided he fancied it and wore it for ages, then gave it my youngest, I think its somewhere in his bedroom still but hasnt been seen for a while, it didnt have the red/green logo and thats what I have always fancied.
Birthday coming up so will go shopping.

I have two tags. A Carrera and a 2000 series. The 2000 has the red and green logo but the Carrera is more dial colour / black.
I believe that only the Formula 1 watches have the green and red logo these days if you want new. Personally I would look at second hand unless you can get a good discount on new. If you can get 25% off a new Formula 1 then go new.

It is TAG Heuer Mark. Referring to a TAG Heuer as a 'Tag' makes me cringe.
With regards to quality: it certainly doesnt appear to be as good as it once was, but most of the talk of their being 'rubbish' is just hot air / snobbery / ignorance.
I bought a TAG Heuer 4000 bi-colour automatic new in 1991, in preference to an Omega Seamaster, which it bettered in every way. I wish that Id paid a bit more for a non-date Submariner, but it was too large for my then-youthful and skinny wrist.

I would certainly sooner buy something maked Heuer now than TAG Heuer, but this is because LVHM have sullied the name: Techniques de Avant Garde saved Heuer and they made some cracking pieces.
I dont think that they played any part in the watches becoming the charver's decent watch of choice, and I paid close attention to it when it was happening in 1993-1994. It was this initially, followed by LVHMs price increases and slipping quality (greed, put simply) that undermined a great name, and undermined TAG's period of ownership.

And this is why it’s best not to ask about your watch decision on PH and just buy what you like I dont think that they played any part in the watches becoming the charver's decent watch of choice, and I paid close attention to it when it was happening in 1993-1994. Noted, I need to learn how to pronounce the Heuer bit though, always sounds like Geordie talking about a prostitute when I say it !With regards to quality: it certainly doesnt appear to be as good as it once was, but most of the talk of their being 'rubbish' is just hot air / snobbery / ignorance.

What versioned the F1 are you looking at ?
Make sure you try them on to see how it wears (sometimes you like a watch but then you try it on and it doesn’t feel right on your wrist )
Also make sure you manage a 20% discount- don’t settle for less than that.
have a look at Oris watches too
