Topaz Cars & Coffee: PH Gallery

The very best bits from Cars & Coffee's second UK visit

From humble origins, Cars and Coffee has grown (and continues to do so) into an international brand, one which has been able to attract some of the rarest and most beautiful cars in the world to its meets across the US, Europe and, soon, the world. So when C&C decided to join forces with Topaz Detailing, a high-end detailing and paint protection company based in North London, we knew it would be worth checking out.

Last month's morning meet was actually the second consecutive year that C&C's flagship UK event was held at Topaz, and it certainly did not disappoint. Attendees were allowed a rare glimpse behind the closed doors of both the Topaz and neighbouring Pagani UK workshops, as well as the mouth-watering display of cars that showed up to enjoy a morning coffee.

Pretty much every car at the event would be noteworthy in isolation, however, so we've narrowed it down to a few highlights worthy of your attention. Ferrari's 2015 F1 car is probably be a good place to start, which has actually featured on PistonHeads before when it popped up outside H R Owen Ferrari in South Kensington casually parked alongside its 2001 predecessor.

Sticking with Ferrari, a pair of LaFerraris were present, one white and one black, as well as an F40, F50, and F12 TdF. Not bad at all. A one-of-three all blue carbon fibre Bugatti Veyron Supersport wearing the number plate 'F1' was also quite the head turner, as well as the outrageously powerful Koenigsegg Agera RSN (one of three Ageras on display).

A final mention, before letting you look through the pictures, should go to the McLaren P1 GT inspired by the F1 GT. This particular car is the first of a series of P1 GTRs converted to road legal longtail form by Lanzante Motorsport, a company whose work we'll be getting a closer look at in the not-too-distant future.

Paint protection.

Does everyone with a super car do it?
Does it work?
How much does it cost?

Similarly "detailing."
How is that different from giving your P&J some love with a selection of potions from Halfords?

Cheers

Price and attention to, errrr, detail?

Unless you are obsessive and have all week every week to clean your car of course

Why is it every photo of that bloody Veyron the miserable guy is always just sitting in it? Does he ever get out and speak to people?

Is it me or are there some seriously dodgy colour combo's in them photos?!?

1. Teal Aventador with an Orange Interior?
2. The blue Koenisegg - dreadful colour choice
3. THAT AVENTADOR with the wrap
4. White La Ferrari - probably the worst colour I've seen one in
5. British racing green Koenisegg with red striping - really?

I know it's personal preference but my god some of them (achingly beautiful) cars look pretty crap to my eyes frown

I can't comment on the others, but I have been lucky enough to see the Avantador with the orange interior in real life and it's a work of art. Pictures do not even come close to doing it justice.

Looks like it to me and he's the person I associate with the plate. Strikes me as the sort of guy who would be out and about trying to meet as many potential buyers. Perhaps all shots are taken immediately as he turns up and is trying to park the thing?

Koenigsegg Agera (RSN) for me.
Always surprised at the lack of appreciation for just how good the 'eggs are. They rarely get a mention on here compared with the other 'hyper-cars'.

I even like the blue! biggrin

You should watch "The Khan Office" series on Youtube; he's a right sarky bugger but very funny.

1. Teal Aventador with an Orange Interior? - Lovely car and great colour combo.
2. The blue Koenisegg - dreadful colour choice - Lovely colour choice.
3. THAT AVENTADOR with the wrap - why not? Looks pretty insane.
4. White La Ferrari - probably the worst colour I've seen one in - Bianco Fuji maybe? Probably one of my favourite Ferrari Colours.
5. British racing green Koenisegg with red striping - really? Absolutely stunning!

You are absolutely correct it being personal preference but I have demonstrated is that everyone has a taste. Appreciate uniqueness my friend.

Impossible to bottle up an answer really, suffice to say that after a proper detailing every time you wash the car it's both easier to wash, and the finish is a lot.. err.. glassier and glossier. It's a big psychological barrier to most people though when the default opinion is "you're going to pay hundreds of pounds for someone else to wash your car?"

PPF has a whiff of "keeping your partner chaste for the next guy" though, in my humble, naive and simplistic opinion.

Whilst seeing such exotica is nice, I got the impression that Cars and Coffee started life as an egalitarian thing - any interesting / enthusiast car was welcome. Not just £1m cars

This event strikes me as yet another way of the uber-rich showing off...which surely is the antithesis of the original US intention?!?

Apparently the plate is worth more than the car its on.

Odd thought. If you'd said "only doing a couple hundred miles a year to keep the mileage down", i'd be with you. PPF just saves me a front-end respray every 2 years for stone chips.
