Anyone else seen this? Any thoughts, or is it the latest crypto fad type of a thing?

Initiative Q is an attempt by ex-PayPal guys to create a new payment system instead of credit cards that were designed in the 1950s. The system uses its own currency, the Q, and to get people to start using the system once it's ready they are allocating Qs for free to people that sign up now (the amount drops as more people join - so better to join early). Signing up is free and they only ask for your name and an email address. There's nothing to lose but if this payment system becomes a world leading payment method your Qs can be worth a lot. If you missed getting bitcoin seven years ago, you wouldn't want to miss this.

Seems worth signing up to on the off chance. Used your link.

Invite link apparently stops working after 5 signups, so I'll leave mine here in case anyone wants/needs it.

Quite interesting really - in some respects, that's actually a good thing - it means people are wary when they see a mix of "something for nothing" and clickable links. That said, I can't actually see a downside, bar some spam emails, if you use a unique password to register with it.

Signed up (and waiting for verification) but can’t find the link to share with others - am I missing something or is it not mobile friendly? Logged in through email if that makes a difference?

Scam

Quote:

The signup list collates the following information:

people who think get-rich-quick schemes can work;
people who will get their friends to sign up for a get-rich-quick scheme;
a full network graph of said people.
Any number of disreputable people and companies would throw their hats in the air at getting hold of a database like this. Affinity fraud loves this sort of list of pre-screened suckers.

Am oot.

Have you actually read the article? It's obvious that the marketing is pyramid shaped, but at no point does that call it anything near a scam.

The point I'm making is that you've no idea what will happen to your information after the scheme goes pop. Which all pyramid schemes do eventually.

You're being promised some variable quantity of magic beans at some point in the future in return for giving them your (valuable) contact details.
