Initiative Y is an attempt by ex-AdultFriendFinder guys to create a new payment system instead of credit cards that were designed in the 1950s. The system uses its own currency, the Y, and to get people to start using the system once it's ready they are allocating Ys for free to people that sign up now (the amount drops as more people join - so better to join early). Signing up is free and they only ask for your name and an email address. There's nothing to lose but if this payment system becomes a world leading payment method your Ys can be worth a lot. If you missed getting bitcoin seven years ago, you wouldn't want to miss this.

Firstly, this is a discussion thread - not a "share my q link thread".

Views both positive and negative are entirely reasonable. You imply I think "q" is boring - far from it; it is fascinating. What they have done in terms of marketing to attract so many gullible people is remarkable.

However, referring to people who question a system that uses shady marketing techniques to appeal to people's inner greed as "moaners" isn't the correct description.

And to use that as a justification for encouraging participating in what you refer to as a "pyramid" scheme makes you appear quite lowbrow.

Could be true - their "$ counter" has broken on their home page. Keeps counting down to around $19,000 and then resetting by a few dollars so the countdown loop can continue.

Presumably people are still signing up, if this thread is anything to go by, so I wonder what the explanation is as to why the value isn't continuing to reduce.....
