Hi Julian or Nik

Very pleased with how my pension is doing with IM.
Ive got to grips with pensions and ISA I think.

With a GIA (we have maxed this years ISA) and don't want to lock this money into the pension can you help explain how this works.

I see on application for a GIA it list where you would like the funds put although it only list IM Index funds rather then the IM Optimum funds. is there an option to do say the IM defensive?

How does a GIA work in relation to;
Am I correct in thinking any funds paid into a GIA can be taken out easily?
Tax - Are you taxed on any gain as a CGT on withdrawal? or income tax etc and at what time?

thanks

Hi James

Very glad to hear you are pleased with how your pension is doing and have got to grips with things.

Nik is always on hand to continue to go through anything whenever you like.

Yes, the GIA currently only offers access to IM Index and PH Equity. We are looking at adding IM Optimum within the next month and I will post more about that shortly, so you will be able to access them through our GIA very soon.

Yes, funds paid into a GIA can be taken out very easily, just as with an ISA. You simply select "Manage" next to the fund you wish to withdraw money from, click the "Request Withdrawal" tab and then select the amount to withdraw.

I have tried posting a screen shot of this window but thumbsnap is having none of it for some reason. I'll try again later or just contact Nik and he will walk you though. It is a very simply process.

Yes, gains are taxable when withdrawn (this includes switching portfolios) and income is taxable in the year it is received. This is the same with every GIA.

We therefore produce annual tax certificates for you showing any capital gains taken and income received.

Remember though, you have your annual CGT and dividend allowance, so you may make a taxable return but not actually have any tax to pay on it.

Again, this is another benefit of having Nik at hand, as when you get your tax certificate each year he can go though all of this with you rather than you having to worry about this by yourself.

I hope that has covered everything, as always please just give me a shout with anything else.

Cheers

Julian

Hi Julian

I could well have missed this in the many pages, but does IM for something (like a Junior ISA for exampe) for a young saver? Would be looking at an initial 10k deposit and then a monthly feed giving about 1k/year from parents?

Thanks

Hi Kingdom35

Sorry, I missed this last night.

We don't actually get involved in making the graphics. The BGT send out the spec to the individual teams and then they each use their own suppliers.

I'm more than happy to see if I can get your circulated amongst the teams, but I imagine they have ongoing relationship with graphic providers.

Just give me a shout though and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers

Hi Julian

Many Thanks for this. From what you've expressed, I think that would make sense. Im not one for treading on toes so il not pursue. But of course if you hear of anyone that needs some graphics at the events and doesn't have a supplier be sure to give me a shout. Not sure if I can say my company name here so PM me if you need the details and il respond.

Thanks again.

I will look into moving my fortune across at some point :-)

Hi Your Dad

Yes, of course we do. Junior ISAs and Junior Pensions.

You can pick from a selection of portfolios and swap and change whenever you like.

I do this for my own daughter.

Just give me a shout if I can be of any assistance in this.

Cheers

Julian

I don't truly understand how this side works, but will send you a PM and put your company name forward to SRO and BGT.

Cheers!

I didn't pick up on this KTF. Thank you.

Your Dad - You will also need to use a GIA (General Investment Account) for part of this (that may incur tax, but given the GCT and Dividend Tax allowance, will probably not actually be liable for any tax until the sum has grown substantially).

Please get in tough with Nik (nik.burrows@intelligentmoney.com) for a full assessment at no charge (he is advanced qualified in taxation & trusts), or simply post again here.

Cheers

Hi Nik & Julian,
After a few weeks of stumbling about looking for pension advice I thought I should check the PH boards, and read this post with interest.
My main question is about a final salary pension I paid into for 5 years around 15-20 years ago. Without going into detail here, and boring everyone is it something I could DM or email about? Very small fry in comparison to some of the figures on here!
Cheers

Just to let everyone know, Nik will be in touch with all our PHer Private Clients offering complimentary VIP hospitality tickets to the race of your choice in this year's Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

These tickets include breakfast with the drivers and full access to the VIP paddock throughout the day, together with a pit lane tour.

If there are any tickets left over I will offer them here.

Branded baseball caps and jackets will also be made available, again with our compliments, to all PHer Private Clients.

It is going to be an exciting year! smile

Bloody shift work, been looking to take my son to some motorsport. Fantastic offer and opportunity.
